Job summary

Vodafone VOIS is seeking an experienced CPE Solution Architect to design and deliver scalable broadband solutions using platforms like RDK-B, OpenWRT and Prpl. You will work with global partners to translate business needs into robust technical architectures across distributed services.

You will guide releases, ensure performance and reliability, and foster DevOps practices while collaborating with international teams in an agile environment. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in router, gateway and Wi-Fi extender architectures.
• Strong Linux development background with C/C++ proficiency.
• Hands-on knowledge of open-source router platforms (RDK-B, OpenWRT, Prpl).
• Deep understanding of broadband technologies (WANOE, DOCSIS, GPON, xDSL, FWA).

About this Role

We are seeking an experienced CPE Solution Architect with deep expertise in router and gateway technologies, CPE platforms, distributed systems, and cloud-integrated service architectures. This role is focused on designing and delivering scalable, high-quality broadband and connectivity solutions across platforms such as RDK-B, OpenWRT, and Prpl. The successful candidate will collaborate with local market stakeholders, development teams, and global partners to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions while ensuring reliability, performance, and release excellence

What you’ll do

• Interface with local market stakeholders to understand business demand and design tailored technical solutions.
• Collaborate with Group and internal stakeholders to drive solution development and successful delivery.
• Lead and review High-Level Designs (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD) to ensure architectural alignment and best practices.
• Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable solution designs.
• Take ownership of releases, development timelines, solution reliability, and performance outcomes.
• Guide and coach development teams to implement high-quality, best-practice solutions.
• Evaluate and recommend current industry best practices and third‑party technology alternatives.
• Design and oversee services running on CPE platforms using LXC, Dobby, or Self-Contained Services.
• Architect cloud-connected services and integrations between CPE devices and backend platforms.
• Drive design, implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of router and gateway features.
• Promote continuous integration, automated testing, quality assurance, and DevOps practices.
• Support agile delivery teams and contribute to scalable distributed solution architectures.

Who you are

Strong understanding of router, gateway, and Wi‑Fi extender architecture and related technologies.
Extensive experience in networking concepts, Linux development, and C/C++ programming.
Practical experience with open‑source router platforms including RDK-B, OpenWRT, and Prpl.
Strong knowledge of broadband access technologies such as WANOE, DOCSIS, GPON, xDSL, and FWA.
Proven experience designing, implementing, testing, and deploying scalable distributed services.
Hands‑on experience with LXC, Dobby, or Self‑Contained Services environments.
Strong expertise in router and gateway feature development and integration.
Knowledge of message bus architectures including D‑Bus, R‑Bus, and U‑Bus.
Experience integrating CPE services with cloud‑based backend systems.
Practical understanding of CI/CD pipelines and test‑driven development methodologies.
Knowledge of architecture patterns, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
Familiarity with web‑based and service‑based architectures for CPE development.
Ability to analyse commercial requirements and convert them into technical solution concepts.
Strong problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and innovation skills.
Experience working collaboratively across international and distributed teams.
Ability to operate effectively in Agile, SAFe Agile, or DevOps delivery environments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Certification in a recognised Solution Architecture framework is desirable.
