Job summary

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s Compute Bare Metal Provisioning team builds services that automate the server lifecycle, from platform creation to firmware management, across Linux and hardware. As a Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer, you will design, operate, and debug software powering OCI’s bare metal and GPU infrastructure.

You’ll deliver scalable tooling and collaborate across AMD, Intel, Arm, and NVIDIA systems.

Qualifications

• 3–8+ years of software development experience in large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong coding in Java or C++, plus Python or scripting.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Experience with Linux, OS concepts, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, and network architectures.
• Familiarity with NoSQL storage and databases.
• Strong debugging and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Comfort with AI prompts to aid development and debugging.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s Compute Bare Metal Provisioning team builds services and tools that automate the server lifecycle, from platform creation and hardware bring-up to customer-ready instance provisioning and firmware management.
The team works across distributed systems, Linux, and hardware integration. Its services provision, configure, secure, and validate compute and GPU platforms across OCI’s fleet, interfacing with components such as BMCs, NICs, SmartNICs, ILOMs, GPUs, and custom firmware. Team members partner with Compute, Networking, Security, Data Center Engineering, and Hardware Development to launch and operate platforms reliably at scale.
Job Summary
As a Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer, you will design, develop, operate, and debug software and services that power OCI’s bare metal and GPU infrastructure. You’ll build scalable distributed services and tooling, work across the stack from orchestration to Linux systems, and help bring new server platforms into production with high reliability and low operational overhead.

Qualifications & Skills
Mandatory

• 3–8+ years of software development experience, including building or operating large-scale, highly available distributed systems.


• Strong coding skills in Java or C++, plus experience with Python or another scripting language.


• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems fundamentals.


• Experience or exposure to Linux, operating systems concepts, and systems troubleshooting.


• Familiarity with TCP/IP, HTTP, and standard network architectures.


• Understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, or distributed persistence.


• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn new technologies and collaborate across teams.


• Comfort using AI agents and prompt engineering to support software development, code analysis, and debugging.
  

Good to Have

• Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code experience.


• Experience with Docker, SQL, or Java web services.


• Systems engineering experience, including performance tuning.


• Firmware or hardware experience, especially with servers, GPUs, BMCs, NICs, SmartNICs, or ILOMs.


• Experience building multi-tenant or virtualized infrastructure.
