Oracle in Chennai, India is seeking an experienced software engineer to join the File Storage Service team. You will work in a highly-collaborative environment, architect broad system interactions, and be hands-on across the stack.
The role requires 5+ years in distributed systems, strong C and Linux networking skills, and excellent problem-solving. You will design, implement, and optimize components for scalability and operability.
BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields with experience of 5+ years in the functional area.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will work in a highly-collaborative team in building new features for File Storage Service; operating and growing the current service offering. You should be able to architect broad systems interactions, while being very hands‑on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and lower level system interactions.
You will apply intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Design, implement, and optimize components in distributed systems with an emphasis on scalability, resiliency, and operability. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.
Build fault‑tolerant paths and apply recovery‑oriented principles. Proactively detect and mitigate issues via tests, alarms, dashboards, and telemetry; author runbooks and participate in incident response and RCAs.
Develop automation for troubleshooting and maintenance, and apply advanced security controls (encryption, access, remediation) while ensuring change, compliance, and documentation standards are met.
