Job summary

Guidehouse India invites applications for a Medical Coding Specialist who will translate medical diagnoses and procedures into ICD-10-CM and CPT codes. You will maintain accuracy, meet turnaround times, and work with the coding team to optimize performance.

The role requires 2–3 years of experience, strong interpretation of medical records, and proficiency with coding systems. Collaboration with team leads and adherence to security policies are essential.

Qualifications

• Life science or paramedical graduates required.
• 2–3 years minimum experience.
• Strong ability to interpret medical records across specialties.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with speed and accuracy in coding using ICD-10-CM/CPT conventions.

Responsibilities

• Accurately transforms medical diagnoses and procedures into ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure daily coding volumes meet turnaround times.
• Check input volumes as assigned by TL.
• Code reports per client and coding guidelines maintaining quality and productivity.
• Interact with TL for feedback and guidance.
• Work independently and with the coding team collaboratively.
• Understand workflow and client-specific criteria.
• Meet monthly targets with above 95% accuracy.
• Attend weekly QA/Team meetings with QA.
• Follow information security policy and protect data confidentiality.

What You Will Do

• Accurately transforms medical diagnoses and procedures into designated alphanumerical codes in ICD-10-CM , CPT and HCPCS codes.


• Ensure that the daily coding volumes for the team are turned around accurately within the specified Turnaround Time.


• Checking input volumes allotted by TL


• Coding reports as per client guidelines and coding guidelines by maintaining operational quality and productivity.


• Regular interaction with TL and getting feedbacks.


• This position requires that one performs well independently and in a collaborative manner with their entire coding team.


• Understands in detail the workflow, procedures and specific criteria for the assigned client.


• Ensures he/she meets the monthly target with above 95% accuracy consistently


• Attend the Weekly QA / Team meetings without fail and respond in two way communication with the Quality analyst/Team Lead.


• Shall understand and abide by the organizations’ information security policy and protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all information assets.


• Shall report incidents related to security of information to concerned authorities.

What You Will Need

• Any Life science, Paramedical Graduates and Post Graduates


• Minimum Experience: 2-3 year experience.


• Basic Skill set: Strong ability to interpret medical records of the patients in different specialties.


• Ability to communicate, have excellent interpersonal, listening skills and organizational skills.


• Ability to work with speed and accuracy.


• Good analytic skills and expertise to be proficient in accurately coding medical records utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT conventions especially emergency room coding, exposure to radiology , Ob/Gyn (E/m & Surgery) work types.

What Would Be Nice To Have

• Proficiency in MS Office/excel


• Experience in coding software or encoder (3M, Trucode, Optum)


• Familiarity with HER/EMR systems (EPIC, Cerner, etc.,)


• Knowledge of multiple coding specialties (ED,EM (OP&IP), etc)
