Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for Mining & Industrial projects in Bengaluru to lead civil design for haul roads, site infrastructure and drainage, coordinating with geotechnical, structural and environmental disciplines.

You will develop geometric design, earthworks and heavy-duty pavement solutions, review calculations, and support project teams to meet safety, budget and schedule targets.

Responsibilities

• Develop civil design solutions for haul roads, access roads and mine or industrial site infrastructure.
• Undertake geometric design, grading and alignment development balancing safety and constructability.
• Develop heavy-duty pavement solutions based on expected loading, ground conditions, materials and project requirements.
• Prepare bulk earthworks designs and grading plans coordinating geotechnical requirements.
• Design surface water management and drainage systems including open channels and culverts.
• Prepare and review calculations, models, drawings, design reports, specifications and technical inputs to estimates and scopes.
• Coordinate civil interfaces with structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, process and environmental disciplines.
• Participate in design reviews, safety-in-design reviews, constructability reviews and technical risk assessments.
• Check your own work and review the work of less experienced team members in accordance with quality procedures.
• Work directly with regional project teams to clarify requirements and deliver work to scope, programme and budget.

Job Description

• Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
• Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
• Identifies discrepancies in results.
• Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
• Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
• Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake geometric design, grading and alignment development, balancing safety, constructability, operational needs and earthworks efficiency.
• Develop heavy-duty pavement solutions based on expected loading, ground conditions, materials and project requirements.
• Prepare bulk earthworks designs, cut-and-fill assessments, grading plans and quantities, coordinating geotechnical and slope requirements with the relevant specialists.
• Design surface water management and drainage systems, including open channels, detention or retention facilities, stormwater networks and culverts.
• Prepare and review calculations, models, drawings, design reports, specifications and technical inputs to estimates and scopes.
• Coordinate civil interfaces with structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, process and environmental disciplines.
• Participate in design reviews, safety-in-design reviews, constructability reviews and technical risk assessments.
• Check your own work and, where authorised, review the work of less experienced team members in accordance with AECOM quality procedures.
• Work directly with regional project teams to clarify requirements, manage technical queries and deliver agreed work packages to scope, programme and budget.
