Job summary

BMC Software Pune is evolving its BI platform from traditional reporting to a modern analytics ecosystem built on trusted metrics and AI-enabled insights. As a Senior BI Analyst, you will design scalable analytics solutions, govern data, and deliver reusable analytic assets in collaboration with business stakeholders and Analytics teams.

The role requires 7+ years in BI/Analytics, expertise in Tableau, advanced SQL, dimensional modelling, and experience with Snowflake.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in BI, analytics, or decision support.
• Expertise in Tableau for dashboard development, enhancement, and maintenance.
• Advanced SQL skills for complex analytical queries.
• Strong dimensional modelling and semantic layer understanding.
• Experience with Snowflake or modern cloud data platforms.
• Knowledge of data preparation, transformation, and data engineering concepts.
• Strong analytical thinking with ability to translate business questions into metrics.

Role Summary

As a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you will play a key role in designing scalable analytics solutions that empower business users through governed data, intuitive reporting, and reusable analytical assets. Working closely with business stakeholders, Data Engineering, and Analytics teams, you will help define how the organization measures performance today while building the foundation for AI-driven analytics tomorrow.

Key Responsibility

The Senior BI Analyst supports senior leadership by providing data-driven insights and analytics, enabling informed decision-making, and driving strategic initiatives to enhance and align with business objectives.

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand analytical requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
• Design and maintain semantic models, governed business metrics, and reusable analytical datasets.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain Tableau dashboards, ensuring reporting assets remain accurate, intuitive, and business-focused.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries to support reporting, analysis, and business decision-making.
• Perform data preparation, validation, and lightweight data engineering activities to support analytical solutions.
• Define and standardize KPIs and business metrics to ensure consistent reporting across the organization.
• Analyse business performance, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights to leadership.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to ensure analytics solutions leverage trusted and well-governed data.
• Contribute to AI-enabled analytics by building semantic models and governed metrics that support intelligent reporting and natural language experiences.
• Promote BI best practices in data modelling, visualization, reporting governance, and documentation.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, or Decision Support.
• Strong expertise in Tableau for dashboard development, enhancement, and maintenance.
• Advanced SQL skills with experience writing complex analytical queries.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, semantic layers, and analytical data modelling.
• Experience working with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake.
• Knowledge of data preparation, transformation, and reporting-oriented data engineering concepts.
• Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate business questions into meaningful metrics and insights.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
• Familiarity with dbt or modern semantic modelling frameworks like honeydew.
• Experience with Python for analytical automation.
• Understanding of AI, Generative AI, and AI-assisted analytics.
• Experience mentoring analysts and driving BI best practices.

Education

• Bachelors or masters degree in computer science, Information Systems, Analytics, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
