Job summary

Unisys in Hyderabad, India, is seeking a seasoned Software Applications Engineer to design, deploy, and operate cloud-based solutions with a focus on CI/CD, IaC, and Azure services. You will troubleshoot deployments, optimize infrastructure, and mentor teammates in DevOps best practices.

The role requires 5+ years experience with Azure, Terraform/Bicep, scripting, and containerization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, maintain runbooks, and contribute to FinOps practices.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree and 5+ years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs build and deployment for application development efforts.
• Designs basic requirements that are effective, timely and comply with project standards.
• Configures, programs and tests applications / technical architecture components.
• Fixes defects and performance related problems.
• Accountable for service commitments at individual request level for in scope development work.
• Reviews design, coding, and unit testing to ensure compliance with the standard defined for the project.
• Works with the BA team to understand requirements and use cases.
• Develop sizing for assigned use cases with inputs from the BA team.
• Deploys QAT or UAT environments independently.
• Works closely with the testing team to understand existing and newly generated issues (regression) and works towards providing solutions.
• Explores alternative solutions by selecting the best option, through applying DAR techniques.
• Participates in code reviews, works with other developers, designers, and architects to ensure requirements are met.
• Ensures the integrity of pre-production environments, such as development, test, QA and staging environments.
• Leads efforts in specific process improvement and technical automation areas.
• Provides regular status updates for self / team to project lead / manager.
• Helps less experienced team members in completion of upskilling training / tasks.

What success looks like in this role

Pipeline Management: Troubleshoot, optimize, and write YAML-based CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps with Microsoft platform(.Net). Infrastructure as Code: Provision and manage Azure resources using Terraform or Bicep. Incident & Support: Perform root cause analysis for deployment failures and production infrastructure outages. Security & Governance: Configure Azure RBAC, managed identities, Key Vault secrets, and network security groups (NSGs). Monitoring: Set up and track application health via Azure Monitor and Application Insights or any tools. Cloud Services: Strong grasp of Azure PaaS and IaaS (App Services, VNets, Azure SQL, Blob Storage, AKS). Automation: Proficient with Azure CLI, PowerShell, python and Git branching strategies, SonarQube. Containerization: Basic-to-intermediate Docker and Kubernetes container deployment knowledge. Server Management: IIS and Application configuration logs. Optimize costs: Right-size virtual machines, clean up idle disks, and support FinOps practices Guide development teams on cloud and DevOps best practices. Resolve cross-functional infrastructure and database connectivity issues. Maintain clear technical documentation for architectures and runbooks Provides Software Applications Engineering support for larger and more complex applications / project areas.
