NPCI is seeking a Threat Hunting Specialist to join the Information Security team in Hyderabad. The role focuses on hypothesis-driven threat hunts, leveraging threat intelligence and analytics to detect advanced threats across enterprise environments.

The candidate will strengthen SOC capabilities for critical financial infrastructure, working with SIEM/EDR tools and scripting to automate workflows. 3–6 years of relevant experience is expected.

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years experience in threat hunting or security operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hypothesis-driven threat hunting using threat intel and behavioral analytics.
  • Analyze financial sector threat landscapes and attacker TTPs.
  • Investigate endpoints, networks, and logs for advanced threats.
  • Map hunts to MITRE ATT&CK framework and validate findings.
  • Develop detections and automate workflows with scripting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct hypothesis-driven threat hunting and execute structured hunt missions using threat intelligence and behavioral analytics
  • Analyze financial sector-specific threat landscapes and identify attacker TTPs
  • Perform deep investigations across endpoints, network, and logs to identify hidden or advanced threats
  • Utilize MITRE ATT&CK framework to map, validate, and structure hunting activities
  • Develop and execute advanced queries for detecting suspicious patterns across SIEM/EDR platforms
  • Collaborate with SOC, IR, and threat intelligence teams for improving detection use-cases
  • Automate hunting workflows and data analysis using scripting
  • Continuously enhance detection capabilities and improve existing hunting playbooks
Requirements
Key Skills and Experience Required
  • Strong understanding of Windows/Linux internals (process ancestry, registry, memory analysis)
  • Deep knowledge of network protocols and traffic analysis
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • SIEM tools: Splunk, LogRhythm, ELK
    • EDR/XDR platforms: CrowdStrike, SentinelOne
  • Proficiency in query languages such as KQL, SPL, or SQL for threat hunting
  • Strong scripting skills in Python and/or PowerShell for automation and analytics
  • In-depth understanding of MITRE ATT&CK framework and adversary TTP analysis
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
