Job summary

Zillow Group India is seeking an experienced Senior Analytics Engineer to own data models and metric definitions used across marketing, lead generation, and site analytics. You will write transformation code, implement metrics as trusted data products, and document work for reliability and AI readiness.

You will collaborate with data engineering and frontline analysts to ensure data quality and semantic consistency across domains, driving scalable data solutions for the organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional data experience with semantic modeling or metric ownership.
• Expert SQL with knowledge of grain, joins, and schema evolution for modeling.
• Experience with dbt or equivalent transformation framework, plus Git and CI/CD.
• Comfort working across large time-zone gaps with asynchronous communication.
• Proven track record enabling AI systems and ML workflows from structured data.

About the role

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you'll build and own the data models and metric definitions that stakeholders across Zillow depend on for consumer analytics, including marketing, lead generation, and site traffic. You’ll build a deep understanding of multiple domains end-to-end and own the way metrics interact across them, all while setting a high bar for the team’s engineering standards. You'll write transformation code, implement performant metrics as trusted data products, build data-quality tests, and document your work so people — and increasingly, AI systems can trust and build on top of the foundation you lay.

• You Will Get To Build and maintain dimensional data models and metric definitions using SQL and dbt (or equivalent) to establish metrics-as-code as an enterprise asset
• Design data-quality tests, monitoring, and alerting so your data products are trusted by default
• Partner with data engineering to define upstream requirements and fix data-quality issues at the source
• Work directly with US-based BI analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to understand what they actually need, not just what they wrote down
• Define and evangelize semantic layer definitions that make metrics usable by BI tools, data scientists, and AI systems alike
• Own multiple data domains end to end, mentor other engineers, and resolve metric governance across teams

This role has been categorized as an Office position. “Office” employees regularly work at the Zillow India office for approximately 80 to 100 percent of their time each month. Employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Zillow has not defined a reasonable distance, and expects employees will use judgment in determining this for themselves and understand the implications re: time commitment and cost of daily commute.

Who you are

• 5+ years of professional data experience, with deep semantic modeling or metric ownership
• Expert SQL, with thought leadership about how grain, joins, and schema evolution affect relational modeling and metric implementation
• Experience with dbt or an equivalent transformation framework, plus Git and CI/CD best practices
• Comfort operating across a large time-zone gap; proactive asynchronous communication, and exercising technical judgment independently
• A track record of evolving how AI systems, conversational analytics tools, and machine learning workflows consume structured data
