Apex Group Ltd. seeks an experienced Data Modeler to design and maintain robust data models that support analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives across the data platform.

You will work with data engineers and stakeholders to translate requirements into logical/physical models, ensure governance, and optimize performance.

Key focus areas include Snowflake integration, semantic models for Power BI, and data vault and dimensional methods; experience with DBT and ERwin is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in data modelling, data architecture, or data engineering.
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on Cloud data platforms experience.
  • Experience designing semantic models for BI tools like Power BI.
  • Familiarity with data governance, ETL/ELT, and data lineage.

Responsibilities

  • Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models for analytics use cases.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data models.
  • Define and maintain modeling standards, naming conventions, and best practices.

Job Specification

We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler to design and maintain robust, scalable data models that support Apex Group's analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives. As the Data Modeler, you will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into logical and physical data models that ensure consistency, performance, and ease of use across the data platform.

Responsibilities:
  • Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support enterprise data products and analytics use cases.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into well-structured data models.
  • Define and maintain data modelling standards, naming conventions, and best practices across the organization.
  • Work closely with data engineers to implement data models within Snowflake and other data platforms.
  • Develop and maintain semantic models to support self-service analytics and reporting in Power BI.
  • Review and optimize existing data models for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Ensure data models align with data governance policies and support data lineage and traceability.
  • Document data models, including entity relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, and metadata.
  • Partner with the Data Quality and Data Governance teams to ensure model integrity and consistency.
  • Support the evolution of data models to accommodate new business requirements and data sources.
  • Provide guidance and review support to data engineers implementing model changes.
  • Stay current with modern data modelling techniques, including dimensional modelling and data vault methodologies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data modelling, data architecture, or data engineering roles.
  • Strong expertise in dimensional modelling, normalization, and data vault methodologies.
  • Advanced SQL skills, with hands‑on experience in cloud data platforms such as Snowflake.
  • Experience designing semantic models for BI tools such as Power BI.
  • Familiarity with data transformation tools such as DBT.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to balance business needs and technical constraints.
  • Excellent documentation skills, including data dictionaries and entity relationship diagrams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex modelling concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple modelling projects simultaneously.
  • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams to align data models with evolving business needs.
  • Strong understanding of the trade‑offs between normalized and denormalized model designs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with data modelling tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, or similar.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML use cases and how data models support feature engineering.
  • Experience working in financial services or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of data cataloguing and metadata management tools.
  • Relevant certifications in data modelling or data architecture.
