Job summary

Optum in Hyderabad seeks an Senior AI/ML Engineer to lead AI/ML solution development for health optimization on a global scale. You will guide end-to-end implementation, build responsible AI components, and champion MLOps best practices.

The role requires 7+ years of software engineering and 5+ years delivering AI/ML solutions, with full-stack capabilities and healthcare domain experience. Onsite work is expected.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of AI/ML solutions
• Serve as technical lead for complex AI/ML initiatives with end-to-end implementation ownership
• Build responsible AI solutions and reusable service components complying with enterprise standards
• Develop AI/ML-enabled features including Generative AI, predictive analytics, automation, chatbots, conversational AI, and intelligent workflows
• Champion AI/MLOps best practices for production readiness, monitoring, observability, resilience, and continuous improvement
• Drive modern engineering practices including automation-first development, code reuse, observability, test automation, CI/CD, operational excellence, and AI DLC adoption
• Partner with product management, architects, engineering leadership, and technology teams to deliver scalable AI solutions aligned with business objectives and enterprise AI strategy
• Create and maintain comprehensive solution, integration, and network architecture diagrams for AI/ML solutions
• Enforce and promote enterprise security, privacy, compliance, and quality standards within AI/ML solutions
• Accountable for high-quality software deliverables including maintainable code, reliable services, clear documentation, production readiness, and measurable operational outcomes
• Mentor, guide, and train engineers and team members on AI/ML technologies, engineering patterns, frameworks, MLOps, and responsible AI practices
• Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline engineering workflows and support continuous improvement
• Collaborate with cloud, platform, and modernization teams to integrate AI capabilities into cloud-native, digital-first, and enterprise-scale technology solutions
• Exercise independent judgment to prioritize, plan, and manage AI-related engineering activities, dependencies, risks, and delivery commitments
• Communicate complex AI/ML concepts, solution options, technical tradeoffs, risks, and results to technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior leadership
• Evaluate emerging AI/ML technologies, frameworks, patterns, and industry trends to inform solution design and drive enterprise innovation
