Job summary

HSBC Software Development India is seeking a Senior AI Engineer/Sr. Associate Director to lead the design and deployment of a Generative AI Agent platform from discovery to production in a hybrid Pune-based setting.

You will guide cross-functional teams, own success metrics, and shape scalable, observable AI solutions across cloud platforms. The role emphasizes performance, cost efficiency, and governance in enterprise deployments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering with Python or Golang.
• Experience deploying production services with Docker or Kubernetes.
• Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Proven experience building and shipping GenAI/LLM applications.
• Knowledge of agentic workflows including multi-agent patterns and tool/call integration.
• Ability to translate options into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to define and implement a Generative AI Agent platform from discovery through production rollout.
• Architect enterprise-grade capabilities including agent orchestration, workflow design, memory and state management, and a skills registry.
• Establish reusable patterns and reference implementations to enable consistent delivery of agent solutions.
• Create onboarding pathways and developer enablement including APIs/SDKs, templates, and documentation.
• Govern platform adoption at scale with guardrails for repeatable delivery.
• Own success metrics and SLOs and embed observability across logs, metrics and traces.
• Run evaluations and tune reliability, accuracy, latency, and cost to optimise outcomes.
• Oversee end-to-end delivery, managing scope, risks, dependencies and milestones.

What you'll be doing

• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define build and implement a Generative AI Agent platform from discovery through production rollout

• Govern platform adoption at scale with guardrails that support repeatable delivery
• Own success metrics and SLOs and embed observability across logs metrics and traces
• Run evaluations and continuously tune reliability accuracy latency and cost to optimise outcomes
• Oversee end-to-end delivery managing scope risks dependencies and milestones while removing blockers across teams

What we're looking for

• Bring substantial hands-on software engineering experience with strong Python or Golang
• Demonstrate experience deploying and operating production services including Docker or Kubernetes
• Show experience working with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS Azure or GCP
• Bring proven experience building and shipping LLM or GenAI applications into production
• Apply agentic workflows including multi-agent patterns and tool or function calling
• Use RAG search and vector databases and build agent tooling and integration patterns such as MCP and tool or function calling
• Translate technical options into clear recommendations trade-offs and delivery plans for senior stakeholders
• Use AI-driven approaches including coding assistants to improve productivity quality and engineering practices
