Senior Administrator – MuleSoft & Azure API Management
Role required to work in a 24*5 environment.
Key responsibilities
- MuleSoft platform administration
- Administer the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform: organizations, business groups, environments, users, roles and connected apps.
- Manage Mule runtimes on CloudHub, Runtime Fabric and customer-hosted servers, including installation, patching and version upgrades.
- Deploy, scale, monitor and troubleshoot Mule applications, and manage API Manager policies, SLA tiers and client applications.
- Maintain Anypoint Exchange assets, secure properties, certificates and VPN/VPC connectivity.
- Azure API Management administration
- Build, configure and operate Azure APIM instances across dev, test and production, including VNet integration and self-hosted gateways.
- Manage APIs, products, subscriptions, named values, backends and the developer portal.
- Write and maintain APIM policies (XML/C#) for authentication, rate limiting, caching, transformation and routing.
- Integrate APIM with Microsoft Entra ID (OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect), Key Vault, Application Gateway/Front Door and Azure Monitor.
- Development and migration
- Build supporting components in Azure Functions, Logic Apps or Service Bus when needed.
- Plan and execute the migration of MuleSoft APIs to Azure APIM, including inventory, pattern mapping, testing and cutover.
- Automate deployments with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) and infrastructure as code (Bicep, ARM or Terraform), including APIOps practices.
- Infrastructure, operations and security
- Administer Linux servers that host runtimes, agents and tooling: patching, services, storage, scripting and performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot network paths end to end: DNS, load balancers, firewalls, NSGs, private endpoints, TLS/mTLS and proxies.
- Set up monitoring, alerting and logging (Anypoint Monitoring, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, Splunk or similar).
- Lead incident and problem management, take part in on‑call, and write root‑cause analyses.
- Enforce security and compliance controls: certificate lifecycle, secrets management, access reviews, audit evidence and change management.
- Plan capacity, high availability and disaster recovery, and track licensing and Azure cost.
- Write runbooks and standards, and mentor junior administrators and developers.
Required qualifications
Candidates need at least 6–8 years of hands‑on administration and development experience on MuleSoft, Azure API Management, or both with at least 10+ years of IT experience. Strong experience on one platform plus working knowledge of the other is acceptable.

- Hands‑on experience building and running APIM in production: policies, products, VNet modes, self‑hosted gateway, developer portal.
- Azure
- Strong working knowledge of Entra ID, Key Vault, VNets, Private Link, App Gateway/Front Door, Azure Monitor, RBAC; Functions, Logic Apps and Service Bus a plus.
- Linux
- Hands‑on RHEL/Ubuntu admin: systemd, file systems, permissions, package management, log analysis, Bash scripting.
- Networking
- Solid grasp of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, TLS/mTLS and certificates, load balancing, firewalls, proxies, NAT and hybrid connectivity (VPN, ExpressRoute).
- Infrastructure
- Understands compute, storage, HA/DR design, containers and Kubernetes (AKS) basics, and capacity planning.
- API security
- OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT validation, API keys, OWASP API Security Top 10.
- Automation
- CI/CD with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions; IaC with Bicep, ARM or Terraform; scripting in PowerShell, Bash or Python.
- Operations
- ITIL‑style incident, problem and change management; on‑call experience with production platforms.
Preferred qualifications
- Has already led a migration from MuleSoft (or Apigee or another gateway) to Azure APIM.
- Has worked in regulated industries such as healthcare, pharma or finance (HIPAA, SOX, GxP audit evidence).
- Knows event‑driven and messaging patterns: Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, Kafka or IBM MQ.
- Has used observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace or Datadog.
- Has experience with FinOps and license management for Anypoint and Azure.
- Certifications (preferred, not required):
- MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect or MuleSoft Certified Developer.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ‑104).
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field required, or equivalent experience required.
- 4+ years of experience in systems engineering, systems administration, IT infrastructure, or a related field required.
- Demonstrates advanced capability in a primary technical area (e.g., Windows Server, Linux, VMware) with growing breadth across related domains (e.g., Cloud compute, network infrastructure).
- Strong structured analysis skills to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex enterprise system outages.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP)) preferred.
