Job summary

HiQ Ports Pvt Ltd in Visakhapatnam is seeking an experienced finance professional to manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations at the port/terminal. The role covers revenue recognition, billing accuracy, cash flow monitoring, and timely reporting to support management decisions.

The candidate will oversee cost control, budgeting, vendor payments, and statutory compliance (GST/TDS). Proficiency in Tally and MS Excel is preferred, with strong analytical and coordination skills to work

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting for port/terminal operations and record revenues, expenses, receipts and journals.
• Review General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and monitor cash flow.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Monitor port operations billing for cargo handling, storage and related services; ensure accurate invoices and collections.
• Coordinate with Operations and Commercial teams on billing and revenue realization.
• Assist in cost analysis across manpower, equipment, fuel, maintenance and vendors; support budgeting.
• Process vendor invoices, work orders and payments; reconcile vendor accounts.
• Ensure statutory compliance including GST, TDS, PF, ESI where applicable and assist audits.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

1. Accounting & Financial Management

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities of the port/terminal operations.
• Ensure accurate recording of revenue, expenses, receipts, payments, and journal entries.
• Review and maintain General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Monitor cash flow, bank transactions, and fund requirements.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.

2. Port Operations Billing & Revenue

• Monitor billing for cargo handling, loading/unloading, storage, transportation, equipment usage, and other port-related services.
• Verify operational data and supporting documents before raising invoices.
• Track outstanding customer receivables and ensure timely collections.
• Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Operations and Commercial teams regarding billing and revenue realization.

3. Cost Control & Budgeting

• Monitor operational expenses against approved budgets.
• Analyze costs related to manpower, equipment, fuel, maintenance, logistics, and vendors.
• Identify cost variances and provide management with corrective-action recommendations.
• Assist in preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.

4. Vendor & Contractor Payments

• Verify vendor invoices, work orders, purchase orders, and supporting documents.
• Ensure timely processing of contractor, transporter, supplier, and service-provider payments.
• Reconcile vendor accounts and resolve payment-related issues.
• Monitor advances and outstanding balances.

5. Statutory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting and taxation requirements.
• Coordinate GST, TDS, PF, ESI and other statutory payments/returns, as applicable.
• Maintain proper documentation for audits and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors.

6. Bank & Reconciliation

• Prepare and review bank reconciliations.
• Monitor daily bank balances and transactions.
• Ensure timely reconciliation of customer, vendor, and inter-company accounts.

7. MIS & Management Reporting

• Prepare monthly MIS reports for port operations.
• Provide reports on revenue, expenses, profitability, receivables, payables, and cash flow.
• Analyze operational financial performance and highlight significant variances.
• Support management in financial decision-making.

8. Internal Controls & Audit

• Establish and monitor financial controls at the port/terminal.
• Ensure proper authorization and documentation for financial transactions.
• Identify financial risks, control gaps, and potential revenue leakages.
• Support internal, statutory, and management audits.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong knowledge of accounting, GST, TDS, taxation, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Experience in Tally/accounting software and advanced MS Excel.
• Good analytical, communication, coordination, and team-management skills.
