Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise | HPE in Karnataka, India, is seeking a Security Operations Engineer to lead WAAP administration and enhance the security of web applications and APIs in a hybrid work model.

You will partner with development, infrastructure, and security teams to implement robust protections, analyze threats, and drive continuous improvement across detection, response, and automation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Administering, maintaining, and optimizing WAAP platform (WAF, API security, bot protection, DDoS mitigation).
• Monitoring and analyzing traffic to identify and mitigate threats to internet-facing apps and APIs.
• Configuring and tuning WAF policies, rules, signatures, and exceptions.
• Collaborating with development, infrastructure, and cloud teams to onboard new apps and APIs securely.
• Reviewing security events and logs to support incident response.
• Performing traffic analysis to resolve availability, performance, and security issues.
• Conducting security assessments of web apps and APIs and recommending remediations.
• Developing operational docs and SOPs.

About the Role

As a Security Operations Engineer at HPE, you will be responsible for Web Application and API Protection (WAAP) administration. You will serve as a technical lead for the administration, optimization, and continuous improvement of the WAAP platform to protect web applications and APIs from cyber threats while partnering with application, infrastructure, and security teams to enhance the organization's security posture. You will apply your knowledge of Application Security, WAF administration, API Security and Networkingto protect HPE’s web applications and APIs.

About You

You will bring expertise in Application Security and WAF Administration tools and platforms to protect HPE’s web applications and APIs. You will work independently and contribute to high-impact projects in fast-paced environments, applying advanced expertise across cybersecurity and IT security.

Your experience with Application Security, WAF administration, API Security, and Networkingwill be critical. Strong communication skills are essential, enabling you to explain complex technical issues clearly to non-technical audiences.

You are comfortable working through ambiguity, identifying gaps in current processes or tooling, and creating solutions that scale beyond individual applications or teams. You Will Be Responsible For

• Administering, maintaining, and optimizing the Web Application and API Protection (WAAP) platform, including web application firewall (WAF), API security, bot protection, and DDoS mitigation capabilities.
• Monitoring and analyzing application traffic to identify, investigate, and mitigate security threats targeting internet-facing applications and APIs.
• Configuring, tuning, and maintaining WAF policies, security rules, signatures, and exceptions to maximize protection while minimizing false positives.
• Partnering with application development, infrastructure, and cloud engineering teams to securely onboard and protect new applications and APIs.
• Reviewing security events, alerts, and logs to investigate suspicious activity and support incident response efforts.
• Performing traffic analysis and troubleshooting to resolve application availability, performance, and security issues.
• Conducting security assessments of web applications and APIs and providing recommendations to remediate identified risks and vulnerabilities.
