About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.
Duties
- Incumbent is responsible for the operation of security functions within the Pass and Identification office for controlling visitor access and movement on the depot.
- Screen numerous employees, visitors, and contractor personnel daily, requiring a great deal of patience, discretion, and diplomacy to determine status of an individual and reason for and location of visit.
- Control, prepare and issue identification badges, common access cards (CAC) and passes, that allow access of civilian, military, contractor personnel, and visitors to the depot.
- Maintain a variety of files, control registers, and records to provide control of sensitive information maintained.
- Operate and maintain various items of equipment to include computer equipment used in the identification, and registration process.
- Use personal computer and related computer equipment to prepare a variety of forms, listings, memoranda, and correspondence in conjunction with the work of the office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last two years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of eight years depending upon the needs of management. This cannot be made permanent.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
