Job summary

Hero MotoCorp Ltd. in India seeks an experienced EXIM leader to drive departmental leadership, ensure statutory compliance, and optimize incentive programs. The role emphasizes cost control, process improvement, and cross-functional coordination across finance, R&D, SCM, and exports.

A strong background in automotive EXIM with large budget management is essential. The candidate will engage with customs authorities, CHAs, banks, and DGFT, delivering monthly EXIM MIS and ongoing staff development.

Qualifications

• MBA or PG in International Business, or BSc/Commerce/Engineering with a Diploma in Foreign Trade.
• 15–20 years of core EXIM experience.
• Automotive or household appliance sector background with budget scale of 182 Cr across multiple plants and CIT/GPC.

Responsibilities

• Departmental leadership of EXIM activities to ensure on-time clearance and dispatch.
• Ensure compliance with Indian Customs Rules, Regulations, and HSN & Duty protocols.
• Drive 100% realization of EXIM incentives and schemes.
• Landed cost controls to achieve a 10% cost improvement against the logistics budget.
• Improve delivery timelines by exploring advanced shipment methods for a 10% reduction in total delivery time.
• Minimize detention and demurrage costs by monitoring customs processes.
• Evaluate and avail benefits under EPCG, RoDTEP, FTAs, CAROTAR, and R&D schemes.
• Educate internal divisions and overseas suppliers on import laws, Incoterms and banking documentation.
• Collaborate with Finance for duties and vendor payments; coordinate with R&D, SCM and Exports for shipping demands.
• Interface with CHAs, freight forwarders, shipping lines, ports, banks, and the DGFT.
• Publish monthly EXIM MIS and map at least 52 hours of annual training per staff member.

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• 1. Departmental Leadership: Overall management of the EXIM Department activities, prioritizing optimal logistics costs and 100% on-time clearance and dispatches.
• 2. Statutory Compliance: Ensure absolute compliance with Indian Custom Rules & Regulations, Custom Laws, and HSN & Duty verification protocols.
• 3. Incentive Optimization: Drive the timely, 100% realization of eligible EXIM benefits and incentive schemes.

A Day in the life

You will be working on day-to-day basis on following:

• 1. Landed Cost Controls: Managing mass production imported parts to achieve a 10% cost improvement against the approved logistics budget.
• 2. Process Improvement: Exploring advanced shipment methodologies to achieve an efficient delivery timeline, targeting a 10% reduction in total delivery time.
• 3. Demurrage Mitigation: Monitoring customs processes closely to ensure zero unplanned or unbudgeted detention and demurrage costs.
• 4. Scheme Administration: Evaluating and availing corporate benefits under specialized schemes including EPCG, RoDTEP, FTAs, CAROTAR, and R&D benefits.
• 5. Network Education: Educating internal business divisions and overseas suppliers on local import laws, Incoterms, and banking documentation.
• 6. Cross-Functional Operations: Collaborating with Finance for customs duties and vendor payments, and syncing with R&D, SCM, and Exports for shipping demands.
• 7. External Network Coordination: Interfacing with Custom House Agents, freight forwarders, shipping lines, port authorities, banks, and the DGFT.
• 8. Performance Reporting & Training: Compiling and publishing monthly EXIM MIS while mapping out a minimum of 52 hours of annual training per staff member.

Academic Qualification & Experience

• 1.Education: MBA or PG in International Business from an institute of repute, or a Bachelor of Science / Commerce / Engineering paired with a Diploma in Foreign Trade.
• 2.Experience: Minimum 15–20 years of core experience in the EXIM (Export & Import) functional arena.
• 3.Industry Focus & Scale: Preferred background in the automotive or household appliance sectors, managing a budget scale of 182 Cr across 6 domestic plants, 2 overseas plants, a CIT, and a GPC.

Technical Skills/Knowledge

• 1.Global Trade Competency: Master-level understanding of trade dynamics and Custom Laws across India and all dealing countries.
• 2.HSN & Duty Verification: Advanced capability in managing customs Harmonized System Nomenclature (HSN) and structural tariff assessments.
• 3. Incentive Framework Execution: Solid grasp of specialized regulatory frameworks such as EPCG, MEIS, RoDTEP, FTAs, and CAROTAR guidelines.
• 4.Logistics Networks Management: Capability to navigate multi-location logistics intricacies across domestic and global manufacturing plant nodes.
• 5.Banking & Custom Operations: Sound knowledge of trade finance mechanics including bank guarantees (BGs), GR waivers, BRC tracking, and CFS/ICD routines.
