Job summary

SDI Business Services in Bangalore is seeking a Search Developer with 3+ years of experience to build and tune large-scale search solutions. You will work on SOLR/Lucene, Elastic, and Fusion-backed indexing, creating fast query pipelines and scalable data processing.

Hybrid work mode and opportunities to optimize performance, indexing strategies, and language-specific enhancements. Strong Java and JavaScript skills, REST/SOAP services, and ML/AI interest are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Content gathering and index management for data on the website (Products & Content pages).
• Query processing pipelines and optimization for faster search results and better user experience.
• Geo/country/store profile management through designing queries for stores and ranking models.
• Linguistics management including domain dictionaries and multilingual synonyms.
• Personalization signal processing and building personalization models.
• Search issues troubleshooting: monitor trends, identify issues and propose improvements.

Tech Skill:

1. Search Engine knowledge, FUSION, SOLR/Lucene, Elastic
   • 1.1. Should have working FUSION or SOLR or Elastic Search Engine experience.
   • 1.2. Extensive Experience on SOLR, Elastic, Lucene -Search Engine, Text Mining, Indexing.
   • 1.3. Well versed in SOLR Documents, Filters, Query Parsers and their customization. Should have in-depth knowledge of Schema development, Dynamic Fields, Performance Tuning, Faceted Search, Grouping, Distributed Searches, Lucene internals.
   • 1.4. SOLR Search architect - Hands on experience in SOLR implementations Design, Architecture, Implementation, Performance, Scalability of Apache SOLR
   • 1.5. Familiarity with other document-store technologies.
   • 1.6. Development experience with relational databases, including MSSQL and stored procedures.
2. Programming skills Java, Javascript, Web-based services
   • 2.1. Strong Java skills networking, threading, locks, and caching.
   • 2.2. Strong JavaScript programming knowledge
   • 2.3. Good systems knowledge – familiar with the basics of modern systems, including CPU-RAM interaction, stack memory, heap memory, disk, processes, and how to use them to make an application run fast and scale.
   • 2.4. Worked on networked apps before, including web-based services (REST, SOAP, etc).
   • 2.5. Best practices developer – you write code that is well-tested, well-documented, has a clean API, and can be re-used.
3. System Management Skills:
   • 3.1. Monitor search systems, internal and customer facing.
   • 3.2. Should be able to study the search engine performance, help analyze issues, and suggest changes, improvements to the team. Performance in terms of response times, code-optimization etc.
4. Should be familiar with System monitoring and management skills.
   • 4.1. Kubernetes – should have worked with Kubernetes implementation, have experience in reading and understanding system status.
   • 4.2. knowledge of logging, cluster monitoring and management tools - Grafana, SignalFX, Splunk
   • 4.3. SOLR management - SOLR admin, SOLR monitoring.

Good to have:

1. Analytical Processing Skills:
   • 5.1. Should be proficient in Scala, Spark, Docker, ML, Algorithms
     • 5.1.1.Have working in experience in Scala, Spark. Done projects in these technologies.
     • 5.1.2.Should be having experience in working with Docker builds, deployments and Integration.
     • 5.1.3.Must have working knowledge of ML & AI. Should have academic knowledge of ML/AI, be able to take business case and develop ML Model. Prep data, build model, test model, deploy, integrate and run test-tune cycles.
   • 5.2. Data Science tools: Python (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn), Jupyter.

   • 6.1. Observe search trends and issues with them.
   • 6.2. Help Geo’s identify the issues and address them.
   • 6.3. Manage rules engine along with Geo’s.
