Do you have a passion for Automotive? Do you want to challenge the status quo of the in-car experience? Do you want to take on very ambiguous problems? If you answered yes to these questions, we have a dream job for you. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test to join our team in building highly visible, robust automation tools and framework to tackle hard complex hard to solve problems. As a hands-on SDET, you will make a large impact on dynamic, fast moving Amazon businesses by improving Alexa's efficiency and approach to testing. Working backwards from customer needs, you will identify the right sets of tools to build to achieve the best quality and customer experience. You will lead test automation efforts for critical and complex technical projects spanning multiple service teams and Amazon businesses. You will be responsible for driving improvements in test tools, test environments and reporting mechanisms as well as influence the implementation of the right solutions.

The ideal candidate for this role has a strong track record and proficiency in building efficient and innovative test tools. They are a pragmatic problem-solver with high judgment who brings an experienced perspective to balance quality and strategy trade-offs to meet the needs of Alexa teams, projects, and products. They will bring clarity to complexity, probing assumptions, illuminating pitfalls with data, and fostering shared understanding. They have specialized knowledge analyzing test procedures, inspecting architectures and developing test infrastructure and tools that provide confidence in product quality.

Key job responsibilities

• Envision, design and develop GenAI tools, frameworks and testing infrastructure to facilitate the testing by multiple teams and Amazon business. This includes analyzing requirements, assessing testability, identifying automation opportunities and implementing them for projects where the work will be run by multiple businesses in parallel.
• Lead and actively participate in design review, test planning and tools reviews, aligning teams across organization towards coherent test tool strategy.
• Lead effort towards simplifying test tools and technologies in terms of efficiency, effectiveness stability, extensibility, and scalability. Actively participate in employee hiring and development process.

A day in the life

• Create and build new features and Proof-of-concepts Contribute to Automation Framework
• Write MCP servers, APIs, reference designs
• Create HLD and LLD as applicable
• Write process docs to enhance and challenge status quo
• Join stand up and help the team get unblocked
• Automate new features and deploy using existing GenAI Framework

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Hands on experience with GenAI tools for optimization and velocity
