Digantara, a leading Space Surveillance and Intelligence company, is seeking a Backend SDE II to own backend services, APIs, and supporting infrastructure on-site in Bengaluru.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years of production backend experience using Python or Node.js, expertise in PostgreSQL, Linux, and containerized workflows.

You will design, maintain, and scale systems, collaborate with frontend teams, and drive CI/CD pipelines with Docker and GitHub Actions.

This holistic approach empowers Digantara to monitor all Resident Space Objects(RSOs) in orbit, fostering comprehensive domain awareness.

The Software Development Engineer II – Backend will own the development and operation of backend services, APIs, and supporting infrastructure, building reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems that power Digantara's software platform.

Ideal Candidate

• 2–4 years of experience developing production-grade backend applications using Python or Node.js.
• Strong expertise in backend architecture, PostgreSQL, Linux, and containerized development workflows.
• Comfortable taking ownership of backend services from development through deployment while collaborating across engineering teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services supporting web applications.
• Build and maintain HTTP services and REST APIs using Python or Node.js.
• Manage PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, administration, query optimization, backup strategies, and performance tuning.
• Support Linux-based deployments, automation, and operational troubleshooting.
• Build and maintain containerized development and deployment workflows using Docker.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Write automation scripts using Bash to improve deployment and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers to deliver seamless end-to-end product functionality.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve platform reliability, scalability, and performance.

Qualifications

• B.E., B.Tech., or M.Tech. in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 2–4 years of backend software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or Node.js.
• Strong understanding of HTTP protocols and REST API design.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database administration and performance optimization.
• Working knowledge of Linux, Docker, Bash scripting, and CI/CD using GitHub Actions.
• Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to support cross-functional collaboration and end-to-end debugging.
• Experience with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualities

• Experience working with React-based frontend applications.
• Familiarity with messaging systems such as Kafka or NATS.
• Understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms including JWT, OAuth, and session-based authentication.
• Experience with logging, monitoring, and production debugging practices.
• Exposure to distributed systems and cloud-native application development.
