MediBuddy is seeking an SDE I/II Backend to join our growing engineering organization in Bengaluru. You will design and implement scalable backend services, drive architecture decisions, and own the full lifecycle from design to production across microservices on AWS.
You will work with Android, iOS, Node.js, .NET, and Data Science teams to build data-heavy systems, focus on testable code, and mentor junior engineers in a fast-moving startup.
Who We Are India has a healthcare problem. Not a shortage of doctors or medicines — but a shortage of access. Today, hundreds of millions of Indians navigate a fragmented, intimidating system that was never designed with them in mind. A working mother in Patna shouldn't have to travel three hours for a specialist. A diabetic professional in Coimbatore shouldn't have to choose between managing his condition and managing his day. MediBuddy exists to change this. We are India's largest digital healthcare platform — built on one conviction: that quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Every day, we serve 35,000 patients across 22+ specialties in 16 Indian languages, connecting them to consultations, diagnostics, surgeries, and ongoing chronic care — seamlessly, digitally, and at scale. We are not a booking tool. We are a full-stack care platform that follows the patient from first symptom to last mile of recovery. But we are not done. Half of India still doesn't get the healthcare it deserves. That gap is why we come to work.
MediBuddy is simultaneously building six different stacks — digital consultations, e-commerce for medicine delivery, hyperlocal lab tests at home, healthcare transactions, in-clinic booking, and B2B healthcare for corporates and insurers. Every one of these stacks is powered by backend systems that need to be fast, reliable, and able to handle real scale — because behind every API call is someone booking a doctor, ordering medicine, or an employer rolling out healthcare to thousands of employees. With 190+ engineers organized into pods across Android, iOS, Node.js, .NET, Data Science, and DevOps, MediBuddy needs backend engineers who can take a large, fuzzy problem and turn it into a well-architected, distributed system — not just an API that works today, but one that holds up as transaction volume grows. We're looking for an SDE I / SDE II - Backend who can do exactly that.
This is not a ticket-closing role. It is not "implement the endpoint you're told to." You will be expected to drive design and architecture across multiple backend subsystems, break down ambiguous problems into buildable services, and own the full lifecycle of what you build — from high-level design through performance tuning in production. The person we're looking for has 1–6 years of experience building data-heavy, large-scale backend systems with complex business flows. They think in terms of platforms and reuse, not one‑off services. They care as much about the maintainability and testability of their code as they do about shipping it.
Early days — Ramped up on at least one core backend subsystem; contributing well-tested, production-ready services independently; comfortable navigating the existing microservices architecture on AWS.
Mid-term — Driving design for a backend subsystem end-to-end; leading execution of a medium-sized project from breakdown to delivery; actively mentoring at least one junior engineer.
Longer-term — Recognized as someone stakeholders trust to take an ambiguous, large-scope backend problem and turn it into a scalable, well-architected system — without needing to be told how.
Every stack MediBuddy runs — consultations, medicine delivery, lab tests at home, transactions, bookings, B2B healthcare — depends on backend engineers who can turn ambiguous problems into distributed systems that don't fall over under real-world scale. The SDE I/II Backend engineer who joins this team won't just be writing services; they'll be building the infrastructure that hundreds of thousands of patients and employees rely on to get healthcare reliably, at the moments it matters most.
