Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Scientist to develop and validate recombinant antibodies within the Research and Development team. You will contribute to primary screening and conduct cell-based assays including ELISAs and RT-PCR, while ensuring data integrity and rigorous documentation.

The role requires hands-on experimental skills, experience with animal handling and immunization schedules, and collaboration within a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality results on project

Qualifications

• Masters degree in life sciences or related field with 5–6 years of research experience.
• Strong background in animal handling techniques and immunization schedules.
• Experience with titers and immunization planning is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic cell culture and PBMC isolation.
• Manage immunizations in different animals and ensure vendor compliance.
• Plan and execute ELISAs and RT-PCR assays.
• Maintain inventory and data sheets for antigens and hyperimmune sera.
• Ensure data integrity and timely delivery of results.

About Team:

Candidate will be working as part of Thermo Fisher Scientific Research and Development in the core cell culture. Core cell culture team contributes towards strengthening the company’s portfolio by supplying all the biological samples to develop and validate recombinant antibodies. We develop Knock downs and Knock outs to show the specificity of the antibody and also to very specific models for antibody validation to show specificity.

Role & Responsibilities

Purpose:

Thermo Fisher Scientific is recruiting a Scientist who can foster innovation and improve customer outcomes through development and validation of recombinant antibodies.

Responsibilities:

• Basic cell culture experience and PBMC isolation

• Understanding of immunizations in different animals and handling them

• Work with animal vendors and make sure they follow our guidelines and work as per our requirements

• Have to perform, pre-screening, titer checks, understand the concept of titer and plan immunizations accordingly.

• Identify the booster to be seeded, plan on seeding the cells

• Plan and execute ELISAs smartly

• Perform RT-PCR and analyze the data and choose the correct clone

• Initiate, plan, and execute scientific research with emphasis on Primary Screening

• Must have experience in automation in different steps of ELISA and RT-PCR

• Keep thorough inventory of antigen, Hyper immune Sera and results into data sheets and/or electronic notebooks and /or databases

• Take responsibility in whole lab management

• Responsible for data integrity, accuracy, and analysis.

• Deliver high quality results according to project schedule in support of current and/or new products

Skills and Experience

• Experimental skills with attention to detail are critical

• Cell cuture

• Immunization and animal handling experience

• Demonstrated ability to work in teams and mentor junior scientists

• Strong understanding and hands-on expertise with Titer checks and its concept and immunization schedules. The ideal candidate will have additional experience with protein conjugation skills.

• Superior communication skills, both written and oral.

• Should be a good team player, ready to learn new techniques and innovative thinker.

Candidate Requirement:

Education & Experience levels:

• Masters degree in life sciences or Master’s/ bachelaors degree in Cell Biology/Biotechnology or related Life Science with 5-6 years of research experience

• Applicants should have a strong background in animal handling techniques

Nature of experience:

• Should have a clear understanding of titers, animal behavious

• Should be able to think, work independently and execute experiments

Knowledge Required:

• GLP, GMP or any other certification in laboratory practices and EHS certification will be considered as a bonus
