Job summary

Trigent Software in Chennai is seeking an experienced Scala API developer to join our product engineering team. You will design and implement scalable back-end services using Scala, Akka/Play, and modern big data tools for high-throughput data processing.

The role requires 8+ years in software product development, deep knowledge of functional programming, REST microservices, and proficiency with Hadoop ecosystem, Kafka, Elasticsearch and databases such as Cassandra.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software product development for big data applications.
• 5+ years in Scala backend development with Akka/Play frameworks.
• Strong understanding of functional programming and Scala features.
• Experience with REST-based microservices and MVC architectures.
• Proficient with Hadoop ecosystem: Spark, YARN, HDFS, Hive.
• Experience with NoSQL/SQL databases like Cassandra.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes; version control with Git.
• Strong problem solving, analytics and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Hiring for Scala API development Role

8+ years of experience working in a software product development organization building modern and scalable big data applications.

• 5+ years of hands on programming experience in Scala backend development and frameworks such as Akka/Apache Pekko, Play
• In depth understanding of functional programming and implementation such as Try, Option, Future Monad, Collections
• Good knowledge on OOPS Concepts: Classes, Traits and Objects (Singleton and Companion), Case Classes
• Good Understanding of Scala Language Features: Type System, Implicit/Givens
• Knowledge of Scala 3 Syntax
• Experience on MVC Architecture, Knowledge of Frameworks such as: Akka/Apache Pekko, Play 2.9, Play 3.0
• Writing Test cases using Testing Frameworks such as Scalatest, working with config files such as HOCON
• Experience in developing REST-based microservices, preferably with Play as an MVC framework
• In-depth knowledge of developing applications using Elastic search, Kafka messaging
• Experience with NoSQL and SQL databases with familiarity with the Cassandra database
• Fluency in Hadoop technologies and big data processing technologies, e.g. Spark, YARN, HDFS, Oozie, Hive
• Experience in building low latency high transactional services
