Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of remote sensing fundamentals.

• Proficiency in Python (NumPy/SciPy) and C/C++.
• Experience with GDAL, Orfeo Toolbox, ESA SNAP, and QGIS.
• DEM integration (SRTM, Copernicus, etc.).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• 4–10 years in satellite image processing.

Responsibilities

• Raw Data Processing (L0 → L1 → L2 → ARD).
• Develop Level-0 ingestion and unpacking pipelines; handling decryption if applicable.
• Implement Level-1: radiometric and sensor corrections; image reconstruction.
• Implement Level-2: geometric correction, atmospheric/terrain correction, cloud masking; surface reflectance generation.
• Develop ARD compliant workflows per international standards.

Job Description

Role Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Image Raw Data Processing Engineer to design and develop low-level raw satellite imagery data processing applications. The role involves building end-to-end processing pipelines from Level-0 (raw telemetry data) through Level-1 and Level-2 products, performing geometric, radiometric, and atmospheric corrections, and generating Analysis Ready Data (ARD). The ideal candidate will have strong experience in remote sensing, image processing, and satellite data calibration workflows.

Key Responsibilities

1. Raw Data Processing (L0 → L1 → L2 → ARD)

   • Develop and maintain Level-0 data ingestion and unpacking pipelines (raw telemetry,decompression, decryption if applicable).
   • Implement Level-1 processing: Radiometric calibration, Sensor corrections, Detector normalization, Image reconstruction
   • Implement Level-2 processing: Geometric correction & orthorectification, Atmospheric correction, Terrain correction, Cloud masking, Surface reflectance generation
   • Develop workflows to convert outputs into **Analysis Ready Data (ARD)** compliant with international standards.

2. Calibration & Correction

   • Radiometric calibration using sensor models and calibration coefficients.
   • Geometric corrections using Line of Sight(LOS) model , RPCs, GCPs, DEM integration.
   • Atmospheric correction using physics-based or model-based approaches
   • Perform BRDF corrections where applicable.

3. Algorithm Development

   • Develop and optimize image processing algorithms for multispectral, hyperspectral, or SAR data (if applicable).
   • Noise reduction, striping correction, band co-registration.
   • Implement quality metrics and validation pipelines.

• Strong knowledge of remote sensing fundamentals.
• Deep understanding of satellite data levels (L0, L1A, L1B, L2, ARD).
• Experience with: Radiometric & geometric correction, Atmospheric correction models, Orthorectification
• Programming expertise in:
  • Python (NumPy, SciPy, GDAL, Rasterio)
  • C/C++ (preferred for performance-critical components)
• Experience with:
  • GDAL, Orfeo Toolbox, ESA SNAP, QGIS
  • DEM integration (SRTM, Copernicus, etc.)

• Experience* 4-10 years in satellite image processing / remote sensing engineering.
