Job summary

Smith+nephew seeks an experienced SAP Order Management Solution Architect based in Pune, hybrid work. You will design and deliver SAP solutions, including ECC/S/4HANA and integration with SAP BTP, CPI, API Management, and Open Connectors, while guiding security, performance, and governance across global releases and transformations.

You will partner with business and technical teams, own end‑to‑end integration strategy, and lead complex ERP integration programs in a regulated life‑science

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/IT or equivalent experience.
• Strong SAP architecture and integration design experience.

Responsibilities

• Define enterprise integration architecture aligned with SAP roadmap (ECC, S/4HANA, SAP BTP).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into integration designs.
• Lead SAP system integration across SAP and third‑party apps.
• Design end‑to‑end integration solutions using SAP PI/PO, SAP BTP, CPI, API Management.
• Ensure scalability, high availability and performance.
• Implement security protocols (OAuth, SAML, certificates).
• Provide guidance during implementation and production support.
• Lead root‑cause analysis and performance tuning.
• Participate in SAP releases, rollouts and transformations.
• Drive continuous improvement and cloud integration capabilities.

Job description

Role: SAP Order Management Solution Architect Location: Pune (Hybrid) Life Unlimited.

ERPs form the core of this ecosystem and are tightly integrated with best-in-class systems such as Salesforce, Windchill, Movemedical, Maestro, Ariba, Workday and many more. At S+N, SAP serves as our primary and strategic ERP platform, running 80% of our operations and revenue. We are seeking an SAP Order Management Solution Architect to design and deliver SAP solutions and customizations aligned with business requirements, while supporting and preparing for our strategic transition to SAP S/4HANA. Therefore, this role is both strategic and pivotal, playing a key part in enabling Smith + Nephew's digital transformation and continued growth over the coming years.

What will you be doing?

• Define enterprise integration architecture aligned with SAP roadmap (SAP ECC, S/4HANA, SAP BTP etc.).
• Collaborate with business, functional, and technical stakeholders and translate business requirements into integration architecture designs.
• Lead system integration architecture across SAP and third‑party applications.
• Design end-to‑end integration solutions using: SAP PI/PO (Process Integration/Orchestration) SAP BTP Integration Suite (CPI, API Management, Open Connectors).
• Ensure integration scalability, high availability, and performance optimization.
• Implement security protocols (OAuth, SAML, certificates, encryption).
• Provide guidance during implementation and production support.
• Troubleshoot complex integration issues and Lead root‑cause analysis and performance tuning.
• Participates in SAP related projects (releases and/or rollouts) and conducts requirement gathering, fit/gap analysis, design and build activities.
• Focus on continuous improvement, keeping up with industry and proactively advising the business of new capabilities that can help them support the company’s growth and strategy.

What will you need to be successful?

Education:

• Bachelor's / Master's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, IT or related subject preferred.

Licenses/ Certifications:

• - SAP certification: SAP Certified Development / Integration certifications (SAP CPI, BTP etc.)
• - TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification
• - ITIL Qualifications

Experience:

• At least 10 years of IT experience, with 8+ years in SAP architecture.
• This role will be based in Pune, Hybrid- work model, 2 days working from office.
• Lead the design, delivery, and governance of SAP solutions across global releases, rollouts, and transformation programs.
• Provide expert L3 support for Live countries and ensure stability, reliability, and optimal performance of business-critical SAP applications.
• Govern solution changes through Design Authority processes, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, global standards, and long-term strategic objectives.
• Champion continuous improvement and innovation by leveraging emerging SAP capabilities and industry best practices to enable business growth and transformation.
• Hands‑on experience with S/4HANA transformation programs and Experience in cloud integration and API‑led architecture is advantageous.
• Experience in a full cycle of an ERP implementation based on a core solution and multi‑country deployment.
• Experience in information systems, applications - including SAP (SD, MM, WM, PP, and FI/CO), and project management, preferably in regulated life science industry.
• Functional knowledge within functional area of SAP ECC6 EHP-7 (or later) is a must, experience of HANA preferred.
• Experience in SAP BASIS/ABAP would be a plus.
• Working experience in other MWs (BOOMI/SOA etc.) would be a plus.
• Experience in a regulated industry and/or medical device company preferred.

• Solid functional and technical expertise in SAP business processes and operating models.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Collaborative, team‑oriented mindset.
