Job summary

Sandoz India seeks an experienced SAP Technical SME - Basis & HANA Operations to lead technical governance of SAP Basis, HANA, and cloud operations within the SAP RISE landscape. You will liaison with infrastructure, cybersecurity and application support to drive reliability and performance.

The role requires deep expertise in SAP Basis, HANA administration, and SAP RISE service delivery, with focus on security, audits and continuous improvement across global teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of SAP technical/Basis administration experience.
• Hands-on SAP HANA administration and SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Experience with SAP RISE cloud platform and managed services.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical SME for SAP Basis and HANA across SAP S/4HANA, BTP, Fiori and related systems.
• Oversee day-to-day SAP operations delivered via SAP RISE and partners.
• Govern service delivery against SLAs, KPIs, and change/release schedules.
• Lead incident management, root cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and audit teams; ensure regulatory readiness.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP Technical SME - Basis & HANA Operations to lead and govern SAP technical operations within our SAP RISE landscape. The role will act as the primary technical authority for SAP Basis, HANA Database Administration, SAP cloud operations, and service governance, ensuring stable, secure, compliant, and high-performing SAP environments.

The candidate will serve as the bridge between internal business teams, SAP RISE managed services, hosting providers, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity, and application support teams to drive service excellence, operational stability, and continuous improvement.

Your Key Responsibilities

Major Accountabilities

SAP Basis, HANA, Technical & RISE Operations

• Act as the technical SME for SAP Basis and HANA operations across SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Fiori, and related SAP systems.
• Hand-on SAP HANA database administration activities. Oversee day-to-day SAP operations delivered through SAP RISE and managed service providers.
• Manage system availability, performance, capacity planning, and technical health of SAP landscapes.
• Review and govern SAP service delivery against agreed SLAs, KPIs, and operational objectives.
• Lead technical issue resolution and support major incident management activities.
• Drive root cause analysis and implementation of preventive actions.
• Serve as primary liaison with SAP RISE teams for infrastructure, platform, and technical operations.
• Govern SAP RISE service delivery, support escalations, and service review meetings.
• Ensure adherence to SAP RISE operational processes, change management, and release schedules.
• Drive optimization initiatives for HANA performance and resource utilization.

Security, Compliance & Audit Support.

• Collaborate with SAP Security, Cybersecurity, and Compliance teams to ensure secure operation of SAP platforms.
• Support audit readiness and compliance requirements.
• Ensure implementation of SAP security notes and vulnerability remediation activities.
• Support GxP, SOX, and other regulatory requirements where applicable.

Stakeholder Management

• Partner with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, SAP functional teams, and vendors.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance during projects, migrations, and transformation initiatives.
• Support SAP strategy, roadmap development, and cloud adoption initiatives.
• Mentor junior Basis administrators and technical analysts

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

• 12+ years of SAP Technical, Basis Administration, SAP RISE experience.
• Strong experience supporting SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Hands-on experience with SAP HANA Administration.
• Experience managing SAP environments hosted on cloud platforms through SAP RISE.
• Experience with SAP Solution Manager, Cloud ALM, Focused Run, or equivalent monitoring tools.
• Strong incident, problem, and change management experience.
• Experience working in globally distributed support organizations and GCC environments.
• SAP Certified Technology Associate or SAP Basis Certification.
• SAP HANA Administration Certification.
• ITIL Foundation or higher certification.
• Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Healthcare, Manufacturing, or other regulated industry experience is a plus but not mandatory.
• Exposure to GxP-compliant or validated environments is advantageous.
