Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/IS/Engineering.
• 4+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP development.
• Strong ABAP programming knowledge and SAP development practices.
• Experience with SAP data extraction and integration mechanisms.
• Knowledge of SAP SD module is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain SAP solutions using ABAP, including custom reports, workflows, enhancements, and integrations.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced SAP Data Engineer / SAP ABAP Engineer to join our Data Engineering team and strengthen in-house capabilities in the SAP ecosystem.

This role sits at the intersection of SAP application development, business processes, data integration, and enterprise data engineering.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on SAP ABAP development experience, combined with a good grasp of SAP business processes - preferably SAP Sales & Distribution (SD). You will work closely with SAP functional consultants, business stakeholders, data engineers, and external SAP partners to understand requirements, develop SAP customizations, build data integrations, and enable reliable movement of SAP data into our broader data ecosystem. You are the right candidate if you have a solid SAP ABAP technical foundation, knowledge of the modern SAP tech stack, in particular Data Sphere, and an interest in ensuring SAP integrates well within a modern cloud data environment. You will be given the opportunity to strengthen your Python, SQL, and AWS-related skills.

What you will be expected to do:

• Develop, enhance, and maintain SAP solutions using ABAP, including custom reports, workflows, enhancements, and integrations.
• Translate business and functional requirements into scalable SAP technical solutions, with a strong focus on SAP SD processes.
• Design and maintain reliable SAP data extraction and integration pipelines using technologies such as ODP, CDS Views, and OData, and leverage Data Sphere as an endpoint or intermediary.
• Assist SAP data integration with the broader data platform, including SAP Datasphere and cloud-based data environments.
• Partner with SAP functional consultants, data engineering teams, business stakeholders, and external SAP partners to deliver solutions and resolve complex issues.
• Take ownership of SAP technical problems, document solutions, and help build in-house SAP capabilities while reducing reliance on external partners.

You might be a strong candidate if you have/are:

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
• 4+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience.
• Strong knowledge of ABAP programming and SAP development practices.
• Experience developing and assisting with SAP customizations in an enterprise environment.
• Good knowledge of at least one SAP functional module; SAP SD experience is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work with functional consultants and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience with SAP data extraction and integration mechanisms such as ODP, CDS Views, and OData.
• proficiency of SAP ERP data structures, tables, and relationships.
• Experience working with SAP interfaces and integrations with external systems.
• Exposure to SAP Datasphere or similar SAP data/integration technologies is highly desirable.
• Strong SQL skills and good understanding of data engineering concepts.
• Experience with Python and/or cloud data platforms is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate complex SAP issues.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
• Good to have:
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA RISE.
• Experience with SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Data Services (BODS), or SAP BTP.
• Experience with SAP Integration Suite / CPI.
• Experience building data pipelines into cloud data warehouses or data lakes.
• Experience with AWS, Redshift, Airflow, Spark/PySpark, or similar data engineering technologies.
• SAP ABAP or relevant SAP certifications.
• Experience working with external SAP implementation or managed-service partners.
• Experience mentoring engineers or taking technical ownership of SAP projects.
