Job summary

Maersk is seeking an experienced SAP Basis DevOps Engineer to join its SAP Platform team. The role combines SAP Basis expertise with modern DevOps to ensure reliability, security, and automation across SAP landscapes, both on‑prem and cloud.

You will drive IaC, automation, incident response, upgrades, and performance tuning, while aligning with security, compliance, and CI/CD practices to enable faster SAP service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 7-10+ years of SAP Basis administration experience.
• Hands-on experience supporting at least four SAP technologies/products.
• Strong experience supporting large enterprise SAP environments.
• Experience working in Agile and DevOps delivery models.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support complex SAP landscapes including S/4HANA, ECC, BW/4HANA, Solution Manager, PO, Web Dispatcher.
• Ensure platform availability, performance, security, and compliance.
• Lead incident resolution, root cause analysis, and problem management.
• Plan and execute SAP upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management.
• Drive IaC, automation, and self-healing for SAP operations.
• Develop and enhance automation for start/stop, health checks, monitoring, and CI/CD deployments.
• Define and maintain SLIs, SLOs, and operational dashboards.
• Participate in on-call support and major incident management.
• Security patching, vulnerability remediation, audits, and compliance.
• Manage SAP workloads on Azure, GCP, or other cloud environments.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote DevOps practices.

Team/Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced SAP Basis DevOps Engineer to join our SAP Platform team. The role combines deep SAP Basis expertise with modern DevOps practices, focusing on platform engineering, automation, operational excellence, reliability, security, and continuous improvement across SAP landscapes. The engineer will be responsible for managing, optimizing, automating, and securing SAP systems running on-premises and cloud platforms while enabling faster and more reliable delivery of SAP services.

Key Responsibilities

SAP Platform Operations

Manage and support complex SAP landscapes including: SAP S/4HANA SAP ECC SAP BW/4HANA SAP Solution Manager SAP Process Orchestration (PO) SAP Web Dispatcher SAP HANA and Oracle databases

Ensure platform availability, performance, security, and compliance.

Lead incident resolution, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem management activities.

Manage SAP transports, system refreshes, client copies, kernel upgrades, and patching activities.

Plan and execute SAP upgrades, migrations, and technical lifecycle management activities.

DevOps & Automation

Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and self-healing capabilities for SAP operations.

Develop and enhance automation for: SAP start/stop operations System health checks Monitoring and alerting Routine Basis administration activities Backup validation and recovery testing Support CI/CD practices and deployment automation for SAP platform services.

Leverage automation platforms, scripting, and orchestration tools to improve operational efficiency.

Reliability Engineering

Improve platform resilience through proactive monitoring and performance optimization.

Define and maintain SLIs, SLOs, and operational dashboards.

Participate in on-call support and major incident management.

Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning exercises.

Security & Compliance

Execute SAP security patching and vulnerability remediation initiatives.

Support compliance requirements, audits, and security assessments.

Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to implement secure platform standards.

Cloud & Infrastructure

Manage SAP workloads hosted on Azure, GCP, or other cloud environments.

Support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.

Maintain backup and recovery strategies for SAP HANA and Oracle databases.

Collaborate with infrastructure teams to optimize compute, storage, and network resources.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities for service improvement and standardization.

Contribute to monitoring modernization, dashboard automation, and operational excellence initiatives.

Document technical procedures, standards, and operational runbooks.

Mentor junior engineers and promote DevOps best practices.

• Knowledge of Solution Manager frameworks including: Technical Monitoring Focused Build Focused Insights Data Volume Management SAP EarlyWatch Work Center Dashboards Knowledge of SSO, SAML, and authentication technologies. Basic ABAP troubleshooting knowledge. Experience managing global, business-critical SAP environments.
