Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Kolkata seeks an experienced SAP BASIS professional with hands-on, full-cycle SAP ERP and S/4HANA implementation expertise across migration, upgrade, and post-go-live support.

Role requires deep knowledge of S/4HANA migrations (SUM/DMO, Migration Cockpit, SWPM), HANA 2.0 administration, and cloud/infra considerations, plus strong communication for workshops and stakeholder alignment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with at least one full-cycle SAP ERP and one S/4HANA implementation.
• Deep knowledge of Brownfield, Greenfield and Hybrid migrations.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Database Administration (HANA 2.0, MDC).
• Proficient in pre-migration readiness and analysis tools like ATC/SQLM.
• Post-Go-Live support, issue analysis and stabilization.

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation activities and provide post-go-live support.
• Conduct workshops and customer discussions to drive decisions.
• Manage migrations, upgrades and downtime optimization.
• Configure and operate Fiori Launchpad, CVI mappings and TMS changes.

Job description

1. Minimum 1 hands‑on full-cycle SAP ERP and one S/4HANA implementation with proven experience leading solution design and delivery for the SAP BASIS module.

2. Should have good knowledge in SAP S/4HANA Migration and Conversion.

   • Methodology Proficiency: Deep understanding of Brownfield (system conversion), Greenfield (new implementation), and Hybrid scenarios.
   • Software Update Manager (SUM) with DMO: Expert-level experience in using SUM with Database Migration Option (DMO) to combine SAP upgrade, Unicode conversion, and DB migration to HANA in one step.
   • Migration Tools: Hands‑on experience with S/4HANA Migration Cockpit, Maintenance Planner, and Software Provisioning Manager (SWPM).
   • Downtime Optimization: Knowledge of Near Zero Downtime Maintenance and Zero Downtime Option to reduce business disruption.

3. Should have good knowledge in SAP S/4HANA Database Administration.

   • HANA 2.0 Proficiency: Installation, configuration, and administration of SAP HANA 2.0, including multi‑tenant database containers (MDC).
   • Backup & Recovery: Mastery of HANA backup strategies, including BR*Tools for HANA and HANA Cockpit/Studio for recovery.
   • Performance Tuning: Expertise in monitoring HANA database performance, delta merges, column store management, and memory optimization.

4. Should have good knowledge in SAP S/4HANA Pre‑Migration Readiness and Analysis.

   • Simplification Item Check: Ability to run and analyze /SDF/RC_START_CHECK to identify incompatibilities.
   • Custom Code Analysis: Familiarity with ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC) and SQL Monitor (SQLM) to identify code remediation.
   • Sizing & Landscape Assessment: Using SAP Quick Sizer to determine hardware requirements for the target environment.

5. Should have good knowledge in SAP S/4HANAPost‑Migration and System Administration.

   • Fiori Architecture Setup: Configuring Fiori Launchpad, Gateway, and OData services.
   • Client Administration: Managing CVI (Customer Vendor Integration) conversions and data mapping.
   • Transport Management: Setting up TMS and handling changes in an S/4HANA environment.
   • Solution Manager 7.2: Configuring and using Solution Manager for monitoring and EWA (Early Watch Alert) reports.

6. Should have good knowledge of Technical Infrastructure and Cloud.

   • Operating Systems: High proficiency in Linux (SUSE/RHEL) for HANA.
   • Cloud Platforms: Experience with Hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP) or RISE with SAP, including IaaS management.
   • High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR): Designing and configuring HANA System Replication (HSR).

7. Lead implementation activities and provide post‑go‑live support, including issue analysis, defect management and process stabilization.

8. Excellent communication skills to conduct workshops, lead customer discussions, manage expectations, and drive decision‑making during the implementation life cycle.
