Safety Officer (Renewable Energy Wind Power Projects / Rotor Blade Manufacturing Facility)
Position: Safety Officer

Project Type: Wind Turbine Rotor Blade Manufacturing Facility + Wind Farm Construction
Experience Required:
- Experience in Wind Power Projects (preferred)
- Construction safety + Manufacturing safety exposure (added advantage)
- Knowledge of WTG erection, heavy lifting, working at height, blade handling, and composite manufacturing safety
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Management for Wind Manufacturing Facility
- Ensure safe operations across all manufacturing areas including prepreg, moulding, curing, trimming, finishing, CNC machining, and assembly sections.
- Monitor work activities related to composite materials, resins, chemicals, adhesives, solvents, etc.
- Enforce proper use of PPE for chemical handling, fiber cutting, lamination, sanding, and grinding operations.
- Conduct inspections for fire safety, chemical storage, eyewash stations, fume extraction units, and ventilation systems.
2. Safety Oversight for Wind Turbine Construction / Installation
- Supervise safety for tower erection, nacelle assembly, rotor blade lifting, hub assembly, and commissioning activities.
- Implement safe practices for heavy lifting with cranes, rigging, and lifting tackles.
- Ensure compliance with working at height procedures for activities conducted on towers up to 100+ meters.
- Conduct site inspections, identify hazards, and enforce control measures as per WTG installation guidelines.
3. Permit-to-Work (PTW) Management
- Implement and monitor PTW for high-risk activities such as:
- Working at height
- Electrical isolation & LOTO
- Confined space
- Hot work
- Heavy lifting & rigging
- Chemical handling
- Ensure all permits are verified, approved, and implemented safely.
4. Risk Assessment & Safety Documentation
- Prepare and update:
- JSA / JHA
- HIRA
- Chemical Risk Assessments
- LOTO procedures
- Emergency response plans
- Maintain safety reports, inspection checklists, audit records, and incident logs.
5. Training & Awareness
- Deliver safety induction for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Conduct toolbox talks related to:
- Blade handling safety
- Composite manufacturing hazards
- Chemical safety
- Crane & lifting safety
- WAH safety
- Promote safety culture among shop‑floor workers and turbine erection teams.
6. Incident Management
- Report, investigate, and document all near‑misses, unsafe acts, property damage, and incidents.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and develop corrective & preventive actions.
- Ensure timely closure of action items.
7. Equipment, Tools & PPE Compliance
- Check calibration and condition of tools & equipment including grinders, drilling machines, cranes, forklifts, and material handling equipment.
- Ensure proper PPE usage such as respirators, gloves, cut‑resistant safety gear, goggles, safety harness, etc.
- Validate certification of lifting tools & tackles, fall protection equipment, and electrical equipment.
8. Emergency Preparedness
- Conduct emergency mock drills (fire, chemical spill, medical emergency, rescue).
- Ensure proper firefighting equipment, spill kits, first‑aid kits, and assembly points are available.
- Coordinate with local emergency response teams if needed.
9. Compliance & Audits
- Ensure compliance with national and international standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, OSHA guidelines).
- Participate in internal and external audits.
- Ensure timely closure of audit findings.
10. Coordination with Stakeholders
- Work closely with production team, quality team, project engineers, contractors, and client HSE representatives.
- Attend weekly/monthly safety meetings and present safety performance.
- Support continuous improvement of HSE systems and processes.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of wind power project safety.
- Knowledge of rotor blade manufacturing processes and composite material safety.
- Ability to manage high-risk activities like lifting, WAH, electrical isolation, chemical handling.
- Good communication skills for trainings and coordination.
- Ability to prepare and maintain safety documentation and reports.
