Job summary

Jobtailor in Bengaluru, Karnataka, seeks a backend engineer to join a squad of designers and engineers to drive feature ideation and on-time delivery. You will design scalable databases and APIs, and help deploy production-ready solutions leveraging GraphQL and REST APIs.

Collaborating with a cross-functional team, you will implement robust backend systems, optimise performance, and contribute to open source or tooling as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong Ruby on Rails, API, and database design knowledge.
• Experience building scalable platforms in production.
• Knowledge of GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Ability to identify problems and propose solutions independently.
• Excellent communication and structured PRs/JIRA usage.
• Experience deploying apps with automated tools (e.g., GitHub Actions).

Responsibilities

• Work in a squad of 6-8 people, comprising designers, front-end engineers, back-end engineers, and a project manager.
• Assist in ideating features based on research or experience.
• Advise the team on the feasibility of ideas and provide alternative routes to meet feature objectives.
• Assist the squad in planning and estimating features for on‑time rollout and functionality.
• Build frameworks that roll out to 50+ platforms through gem updates.
• Impact clients across industries by streamlining processes through our Platform Gem and GraphQL APIs.
• Play an active role in team retrospective events by offering solutions to flagged problems and frustrations.
