Job summary

Chevron ENGINE, Bengaluru, is seeking a Robotics Engineer to join the Engineering Services team. You will lead in the development and implementation of robotic technologies across refining and processing facilities, working with regional developers and service providers to enable scale-up and adoption.

The role requires strong experience with robotic testing, qualification, and integration, plus the ability to engage multiple stakeholders and drive technology value analyses.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics or Mechatronics from an AICTE-accredited university.
  • Experience with development and implementation of robotic technologies in processing facilities.
  • Experience leading testing and qualification efforts for new technologies, including planning demonstrations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of robotic technologies aligned with the robotics program goals.
  • Execute robotic testing and qualification efforts, develop testing protocols, and demonstrate deployments.
  • Qualify, rank and catalog capabilities and limitations of robotic solutions.
  • Accelerate payload and data integration by leveraging internal resources and regional teams.
  • Prepare economic projections and technology value analyses using standard practices.
  • Influence change across large geographic areas by communicating trade-offs with data dashboards.
  • Grasp a wide array of technologies and communicate with diverse stakeholders to enable scalable adoption.

About The Position

The Robotics Engineer is part of the Engineering Services team within Chevron’s ENGINE team and will be part of Chevron’s broader Robotics program. Robotic systems are playing a transformational role in oil and gas, chemical and other process industries. Chevron is a leader in this effort with a technical center lead Robotics Program with the specific goal to reduce cost, reduce risk to workforce, as well as to maintain competitive advantage among our peers.

This role works closely with Robotics engineers and project engineers in the technical center as well as with key robotic developers, integrators and service providers in the region. One of the key aspects of this role is to enable scale up and adoption by classifying and maintaining the robotic technology catalog and Chevron’s internal technology solution libraries that can be leveraged across the enterprise

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The Robotics Engineer will initially share and then Lead in the development and implementation of robotic technologies aligned with overall robotics program goals/objectives.
  • Execute Robotic testing and qualification efforts. Develop testing protocols, plan & execute demonstrations, to reduce uncertainty and improve likelihood during deployments across Chevron facilities. Qualify, rank and catalog capabilities and limitations of Robotics solutions.
  • Accelerate the development of payload and data integration for robotic systems by leveraging Chevron ENGINE resources and regional resources while continuing to identify and address barriers and challenges. Identify & share challenges to life cycle management aspects of Robotic tools for long term sustainability to avoid erosion of value.
  • Engage BU Technology Champions and develop business case for Robotics opportunities. Understand the current practices, processes and costs while comparing it with the innovative/new solutions and costs for integration and adoption.
  • Prepare economic projections and technology value analysis using standard practices.
  • Influencing change across a wide geographical area. Demonstrate capability to effectively evaluate and articulate trade offs with cost, schedule, reliability, and operability using predeveloped dashboards and available data sources.
  • Ability to quickly grasp a wide array of technologies, communicate to a diverse set of stakeholders, and identify barriers to scale up and adoption with corresponding mitigations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Engineering degree in one of the following - Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics (B.E./B.Tech.) from a recognized (AICTE) university Experience with development and implementation of robotic technologies in processing facilities
  • Experience leading testing and qualification efforts of new technologies. Develop testing protocols, plan & execute demonstrations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years in Refinery, petrochemical or Complex upstream Facility
  • Maintenance/Operations experience equivalent
  • Advanced degree in robotics or mechatronics
  • Refinery or complex process facility as Reliability, Integrity, or Process Engineer.
