Job summary

GE Vernova's Advanced Research team invites a Senior Researcher to lead AIML and computer vision projects for industrial diagnostics, visual inspection, and prognostics. You will analyze large datasets and design scalable models for energy equipment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate solutions.

You will contribute to research publications, share methodologies, and support IP filings, while mentoring junior researchers and staying current with CV and AIML advances.

Qualifications

• PhD from premier Indian institution with 0–2 years, or Masters with 5+ years in AIML or related fields.
• Strong understanding of ML/AI and computer vision with image processing, object detection, segmentation, and deep learning architectures (CNNs, Vision Transformers).
• Experience applying AIML and CV concepts to industrial visual inspection, image classification, or real-time detection.
• Proficient in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV, and related libraries.
• Experience in data analysis with pandas and NumPy; familiar with Git and Agile practices.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build prototypes and PoCs to demonstrate feasibility.
• Strong publication record in AIML or CV journals/conferences.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Researcher to join our team in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning (AIML). As a Senior Research Engineer, you will lead and drive cutting‑edge projects that leverage AIML and computer vision techniques for the development of state-of-the-art visual inspection, anomaly detection, prognostics, diagnostics, and modelling solutions.

Roles and responsibilities

• Develop advanced algorithms and methodologies in artificial intelligence, machine learning (AIML), and computer vision to drive process and product innovation.
• Analyze extensive datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights, with an emphasis on computer vision‑based diagnostics, visual inspection, and prognostics for large‑scale energy equipment.
• Design and optimize AIML and computer vision algorithms and models, including convolutional neural networks and generative models, to ensure high performance and scalability.
• Design and conduct experiments to assess the efficacy and reliability of AIML‑based solutions.
• Document research findings, methodologies, and implementation strategies for effective knowledge sharing and future reference.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including engineers, researchers, and product managers, to integrate AIML solutions into existing system platforms.
• Stay current with advancements in AIML, computer vision, control systems, and signal processing engineering.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks commonly used in AIML and computer vision applications, such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV, and related libraries.
• Experience in data analysis and manipulation using tools like pandas, NumPy, and familiarity with software development best practices, including version control (e.g., Git) and agile methodologies.
• Good problem‑solving skills and ability to think critically and creatively.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to build prototypes and develop proof‑of‑concepts to illustrate solution feasibility.
