Job summary

GE Vernova's Advanced Research group is seeking researchers to advance AIML and computer vision for decarbonization, renewables, and electrification. You will design, validate, and scale AI/vision models for large energy equipment, collaborating across engineers, researchers, and product teams.

Applicants should have a strong CV/AI background with PhD or Masters and hands-on Python/TensorFlow/PyTorch experience, plus a track record of publications and IP contributions.

Qualifications

  • PhD from premier Indian institution with 0–2 years of relevant experience.
  • Masters from premier Indian institution with 5+ years in AIML or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of image processing, object detection, segmentation, and deep learning architectures.
  • Experience applying AIML/vision concepts to industrial visual inspection or real-time detection.
  • Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV, and Git; agile practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced AIML and computer vision algorithms for industrial diagnostics.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify patterns and insights for prognostics.
  • Design experiments to assess efficacy and reliability of AIML solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and product managers to integrate solutions.
  • Publish research results and contribute to IP through disclosures and patents.

Job Description Summary

Job Description
Roles and responsibilities
  • Develop advanced algorithms and methodologies in artificial intelligence, machine learning (AIML), and computer vision to drive process and product innovation.
  • Analyze extensive datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights, with an emphasis on computer vision-based diagnostics, visual inspection, and prognostics for large-scale energy equipment.
  • Design and optimize AIML and computer vision algorithms and models, including convolutional neural networks and generative models, to ensure high performance and scalability.
  • Design and conduct experiments to assess the efficacy and reliability of AIML-based solutions.
  • Document research findings, methodologies, and implementation strategies for effective knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, researchers, and product managers, to integrate AIML solutions into existing system platforms.
  • Stay current with advancements in AIML, computer vision, control systems, and signal processing engineering.
  • Contribute to research initiatives to conceptualize and develop AI and computer vision solutions for complex industrial challenges, including image-based defect detection, object recognition, and visual analytics.
  • Support senior researchers and contribute to project execution, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Demonstrate the impact of AI through prototypes and solutions that address real-world problems.
  • Utilize best practices in software libraries, tools, and methodologies to implement efficient, scalable, and reusable solutions.
  • Contribute to intellectual property development by authoring invention disclosures and supporting patent filings.
  • Publish research in scientific journals and present findings at conferences.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD from a premier Indian institution (IISc, IITs) with 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Masters from a premier Indian institution (IISc, IITs) with 5+ years of relevant experience in AIML or related fields.
  • Strong understanding and hands‑on experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and related fields, with knowledge of image processing, object detection, segmentation, and deep learning architectures (e.g., CNNs, Vision Transformers).
  • Experience applying AIML and computer vision concepts to practical applications, including industrial visual inspection, image classification, or real‑time object detection.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks commonly used in AIML and computer vision applications, such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV, and related libraries.
  • Experience in data analysis and manipulation using tools like pandas, NumPy, and familiarity with software development best practices, including version control (e.g., Git) and agile methodologies.
  • Good problem‑solving skills and ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to build prototypes and develop proof‑of‑concepts to illustrate solution feasibility.
  • A good record of peer‑reviewed publications in reputed journals and conferences in AIML, computer vision, or related fields.
