Job summary

Qualifications

• Master's degree required (Ecology, Environmental Science, NRM, Geography, Environmental Economics, Development Studies or related field).
• 0-2 years' experience after Master's; fresh graduates with strong research skills encouraged.
• Strong analytical, writing and communication skills.
• Familiarity with qualitative or quantitative research methods and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews and synthesize research on grasslands, restoration, pastoralism, fodder systems, biodiversity and climate resilience.
• Support field studies, landscape assessments and documentation of conservation and restoration initiatives.
• Collect, organise and analyse ecological, socio-economic and spatial data.
• Assist in developing research frameworks, indicators and monitoring approaches for TGI's landscape interventions.
• Review government policies, programmes and financing mechanisms.
• Prepare research reports, policy briefs, presentations and other knowledge products.
• Coordinate with research institutions, field partners and stakeholders for collaborative research.

About the Grasslands Initiative

ATREE's Grasslands Initiative (TGI) is a mission-mode initiative to advance the recognition, conservation, restoration and sustainable management of India's grasslands and other open natural ecosystems (ONEs). The initiative aims to support landscape-scale restoration and management across priority grassland regions of India, while ensuring that ecological outcomes, local livelihoods and the rights of local communities are secured.
