Job summary

Chintan Research Foundation, a Delhi-based nonprofit policy research entity, seeks a Research Assistant in AI & Economics to support projects intersecting AI and economics in India. You will conduct quantitative analysis, literature reviews and help prepare research outputs across project lifecycles.

Applicants should have a Master's in a relevant field, up to 2 years of experience, and proficiency in R, Python or Stata.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Economics, Public Policy, Data Science or related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant research experience (internships count).
• Proficiency in at least one statistical or programming tool: R, Python or Stata.
• Strong econometrics understanding and research methodology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Conduct targeted research with quantitative analysis and synthesize findings.
• Collect, clean and manage quantitative and qualitative datasets.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a motivated Research Assistant to provide analytical and research support for projects examining the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and economics in India. You will work on your own individual projects, and contribute to existing ones via data analysis, literature reviews and the preparation of research outputs across the project lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct targeted research in the field via quantitative analysis, and synthesising findings from academic and policy sources
• Collect, clean and manage quantitative and qualitative datasets
• Perform statistical and econometric analysis using appropriate software tools
• Contribute to drafting research reports, working papers, policy briefs and presentations, in both individual and joint projects.
• Support the coordination of research activities and events, including scheduling, documentation and stakeholder communication
• Keep up to date with developments in AI and economic research relevant to the Indian context
• Organise roundtables and panel discussions based on your work to gain expert insight and modify the research work accordingly

REQUIREMENTS

• Master's degree in Economics, Public Policy, Data Science, Computer Science or a related field with prior exposure to AI/ML concepts and their application in economic research
• 0–2 years of relevant research experience (internships count)
• Proficiency in at least one statistical or programming tool (R, Python or Stata)
• Sound understanding of applied econometrics and research methodology
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with high attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced research environment

DESIRABLE

• Experience working on India focused development or technology policy projects
