Job summary

Trane Technologies in Navi Mumbai is seeking a field service technician to ensure safe, reliable deployment of rental cooling equipment across project sites in India, with extensive travel. The role requires hands-on installation, commissioning and proactive service to maximize fleet availability.

You will inspect and certify chillers, supervise mobilization, and respond to breakdowns 24x7, while coordinating with the warehouse and service teams and maintaining detailed service reports.

Qualifications

• Diploma/B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 2–5 years’ experience in chillers, HVAC or rental equipment.
• Experience with air- or water-cooled chillers, pumps and electrical panels.
• Knowledge of refrigeration circuits and PLC-based controls preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test and certify rental chillers before dispatch.
• Mobilise, install and commission equipment at sites.
• Attend emergency breakdowns across India (24x7).
• Coordinate with warehouse for fleet restoration and reporting.
• Train customer operators on basic operation and provide reports.

Where Is The Work

On-Site (5 days)

Location: Navi Mumbai Warehouse and Pan India Project Sites (Extensive travel required)

Department: Trane Rental Solutions

Reporting to: Service Manager / Rental Operations Manager

Role purpose

Ensure safe, reliable, and timely deployment of rental cooling equipment while maximizing fleet availability and delivering excellent customer support at project sites.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet readiness

• Inspect, test and certify rental chillers before dispatch.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and repairs on chillers, pumps and accessories.
• Maintain service records, checklists and equipment history.

Mobilisation & installation

• Supervise loading, unloading and site positioning of equipment.
• Install chillers, pumps, hoses, cables and temporary cooling systems.
• Commission equipment and verify performance before handover.

Breakdown & emergency support

• Attend emergency breakdowns across India (24x7 rotation).
• Diagnose electrical, refrigeration and control system faults.
• Restore equipment within agreed response times.

Demobilisation

• Decommission equipment safely.
• Inspect returned equipment and prepare refurbishment reports.
• Coordinate with warehouse for fleet restoration.

EHS & compliance

• Follow Trane safety standards, LOTO and permit-to-work procedures.
• Conduct site risk assessments before installation.
• Ensure statutory compliance during lifting and electrical work.

Customer support

• Train customer operators on basic operation.
• Provide daily service reports and performance updates.
• Maintain high customer satisfaction during rental projects.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma/B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 2-5 years of experience in chillers, HVAC or rental equipment.
• Experience with air-cooled/water-cooled chillers, pumps and electrical panels.
• Knowledge of refrigeration circuits and PLC-based controls is preferred.
