Qualifications

Job description

We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Director- Independent Testing in Ops Risk and Regulatory Control to lead regulatory assurance activities across Morgan Stanley's global transaction reporting framework. This role is responsible for overseeing risk-based testing programmes, identifying regulatory reporting risks, driving remediation of control weaknesses, and providing independent assurance over the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of transaction reporting across multiple global regimes.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is a Team Supervisor position at Director level within the within Core Services, which is responsible for performing and managing product-agnostic and centralized operational services across several businesses and products.

What you’ll do in the role:
  • Lead global Independent Testing programmes covering transaction reporting regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Provide oversight of cyclical, diagnostic, thematic, and data-driven testing activities.
  • Drive identification, escalation, governance, and remediation of regulatory reporting issues and control gaps.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to deliver regulatory change, control enhancements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Champion automation, data analytics, AI, and process improvement opportunities to enhance testing effectiveness.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a global team while fostering a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary supervisor within specific line or project area with accountability to associated risks.
  • Manage direct reports, leading 1:1s and career development, attracting and retaining high quality talent in line with our leadership commitments.
  • Review resources to ensure adequate coverage to deliver BAU commitments, highlighting current and future needs to manager.
  • Share expert knowledge across the team, contributing to team output and ensuring diverse viewpoints are heard.
What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Extensive experience in Regulatory Reporting, Independent Testing, Compliance, Risk, Audit, or Control functions.
  • Strong knowledge of transaction reporting regulations such as MiFID II, EMIR, SFTR, CAT, CFTC, SEC, CSA, HKMA, MAS, JFSA, ASIC, and BOI.
  • Proven leadership experience managing global teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, governance, and issue management skills.
  • Experience leveraging data analytics, automation, AI, Power BI, Alteryx, or similar technologies to drive operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to lead by example, work with drive and determination, adapt management style to suit individuals and ensure team is well supported with a sense of purpose.
  • Prepared to challenge the status quo, raise concerns and/or needs of their team members.
  • Ability to pitch communication appropriately according to the audience and demonstrate active listening skills.
  • Culture carrier across Operations, embracing the Firm's core values and acting as a role model.
  • At least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
