Job summary

Amazon Transportation Systems seeks a Regional WHS Manager to lead safety operations across multiple sort centers in India. You will build a world-class WHS culture, manage a team of safety managers, and partner with operations to implement policies and ensure regulatory compliance.

You will drive continuous improvement using lean methods, conduct risk assessments, analyze incident data, and communicate findings to senior leadership, influencing change and protecting associates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience managing change in a multi-site environment with multiple direct reports.
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements.
  • Experience owning program strategy, managing end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (macros, pivots, lookups).
  • 5+ years in warehouse/site/plant or manufacturing project management.
  • 5+ years cross-functional collaboration with tech and non-tech teams.
  • 5+ years defining and implementing data-driven process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead WHS operations across multiple sort centers to build a world-class WHS culture.

Role of Regional WHS Manager

The Regional WHS Manager will lead Amazon Transportation Systems’ WHS operations across multiple sort centers in India. We are looking for strong leaders who are passionate about safety and will help build a world class WHS organization and a strong WHS culture. The leader will be responsible for leading a team of safety mangers and partnering with operations teams in Sort Centers to execute the company WHS policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, this individual will drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates. The leader must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.

Key job responsibilities

The Regional WHS Manager shall be responsible for the following, at a minimum:

  • Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and company policy, including Motor Vehicle and Transport Safety regulations applicable to ATS operations.
  • Measure and communicate the site's performance against published requirements in safety policies.
  • Ensure site leadership is trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy.
  • Ensure site leadership is given current and regular safety information that enables them to talk about safety with their peers, Associates, and contracted workforce.
  • Spend time on floor/yard/dock seeking input from Associates, contracted workforce, and leaders on safety improvement opportunities.
  • Inform leadership when they are required to resolve a safety concern/suggestion.
  • Lead proactive hazard identification and abatement efforts (including road safety, vehicle safety, loading/unloading operations, and yard management), communicate results and track open items to resolution.
  • Ensure a timely, thorough and accurate response to uncontrolled risks once they are discovered.
  • Plan and carry out peer audits to ensure compliance to the organization's safety policies.
  • Analyze incident data (including road incidents, vehicle telematics data, and on-site incidents) to discover trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest.
  • Escalate risks that present an imminent danger to life or health or if the solution is either insufficient to protect Associates/contracted workforce from harm and/or is delayed in getting fully implemented.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience managing change in a multiple site environment and multiple direct reports
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
  • Experience owning program strategy, managing end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel (macros, pivots, lookups) at an advanced level
  • 5+ years of warehouse/Site/Plant or manufacturing unit’s experience or project management experience
  • 5+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience .
  • 5+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
