Qualifications

  • 4+ years of progressive HR experience with a regional focus.

About the Role: Regional People Advisor – Bengaluru, Chennai

The Regional People Advisor serves as a trusted advisor to People Leaders and employees, delivering practical and business-focused people solutions while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, company policies and employment regulations. The role balances strategic partnership with operational execution and plays a key role in fostering a high-performing, inclusive and engaged workplace culture.

Business Context:

India represents the largest region within S&P Global, and the India People Solutions team comprises Regional People Advisory, People Services and M&A. The Regional People Advisory (RPA) team partners with the global people function ecosystem, including Centres of Excellence, Divisional and Functional People Partners, India Site Leaders, senior leaders and People Leaders to drive critical people priorities and processes, implement enterprise-wide programs, support organizational effectiveness, and enable effective day-to-day people leadership aligned to S&P Global’s people-forward ethos.

The Team:

The Regional People Advisor is an Individual Contributor role based in Bengaluru and reporting into the RPA Cluster Lead – Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Chennai. The incumbent is part of the India Regional People Advisory team. In addition to managing Bengaluru as a site, the incumbent will also handle Chennai-based employees.

The role requires extensive collaboration with People Services, Centres of Excellence, the M&A team, Global People Partners and business stakeholders across functions and divisions. The incumbent will partner with Site Leadership to support site governance, workplace culture initiatives and location-specific people priorities.

The role works in a highly matrixed environment and supports the successful implementation of enterprise people priorities while addressing business and regional needs.

Expected Role Impact: The incumbent is expected to serve as a trusted advisor to People Leaders and employees, enabling the effective execution of people priorities, programs and processes across assigned client groups. The role plays a key part in fostering a performance-driven, people-forward culture anchored on fairness, respect, accountability and inclusion, while partnering with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement, simplification and innovation. By leveraging data, insights and technology, the incumbent supports informed decision-making and enhances the employee experience, while ensuring compliance with local labour laws, statutory requirements and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with People Leaders and business stakeholders to implement enterprise people priorities and business-aligned HR solutions.

  • Provide trusted advice on performance management, employee relations, policy interpretation, organisational changes and workforce matters.

  • Coach People Leaders on performance, talent development, employee engagement and career development practices.

  • Support employee relations matters and partner with Legal and ER teams to manage risk and ensure fair, compliant outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with Indian labour laws, statutory requirements and company policies.

  • Leverage people data, insights and workforce trends to support decision-making and workforce planning.

  • Drive employee engagement, inclusion and culture initiatives aligned to enterprise values and business needs.

  • Support the implementation of enterprise-wide programs, organisational change initiatives and business transformation efforts.

  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes through simplification, automation, digital solutions and AI-enabled ways of working.

What We’re Looking For:

  • HR Generalist Experience : 4+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong foundation in HR practices and a focus on regional support.

  • Knowledge of Local Employment Laws : Good understanding of Indian employment law, labour code and HR best practices, with the ability to apply these laws effectively in a business context.

  • Experience in Performance Management : Practical experience supporting performance management processes, including employee reviews and feedback.

  • Strong Communication Skills : Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust and work effectively with leadership and employees.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making : Ability to interpret HR data and make decisions that align with business needs.

  • Problem Solving & Conflict Resolution : Ability to resolve people issues and manage conflict with a focus on sound decision-making.

  • Cultural Sensitivity : Understanding of India’s diverse cultural landscape and ability to adapt HR strategies to meet local needs.
