About the Organisation

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is a statutory body established under the TRAI Act, 1997, to regulate telecommunication services, protect consumer and service provider interests, and ensure orderly growth of the telecom sector. Since 2004, TRAI has also been entrusted with regulatory functions relating to the Broadcasting and Cable Services sector.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

Desirable Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Regulatory Law / Communication Engineering
• Working knowledge of legal databases such as SCC Online, Manupatra
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and general computer operations

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in legal matters
• Exposure to regulatory laws and handling of court cases
• Experience in Telecom and Broadcasting Regulatory matters

Nature of Duties & Responsibilities

The Associate Consultant (Legal) shall, inter alia, perform the following duties:

• Drafting and vetting regulations, tariff orders, directions, and legal documents
• Preparation of case briefs and assisting in litigation management
• Coordination with Advocates, Retainer Counsels, Advocate-on-Record, and Senior Advocates
• Legal research on regulatory frameworks (India & abroad)
• Case law research for matters involving TRAI
• Maintenance of court-wise and category-wise litigation databases
• Providing legal inputs using online legal databases
• Attending court proceedings (physical/virtual)
• Any other work assigned by senior officers

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 30 years
  As on the date of issue of vacancy circular

Remuneration

• Transport Allowance: ₹ 8,000/- per month (Fixed)
• No DA, HRA, or other allowances shall be admissible.

Tenure of Engagement

• Initial engagement for one (1) year
• Extendable on annual basis, subject to performance and requirement, up to a maximum of four (4) years

Selection Process

• Selection will be based on educational qualifications, experience, and interview/interaction with the Selection Committee
• The decision of TRAI shall be final and binding
