RINA is seeking a Railway Rolling Stock Engineer for its Mumbai operations. You will serve as a Rolling Stock Manufacturing Inspector, ensuring locomotives, EMUs, DMUs, coaches and metro trains meet technical specs, standards, and quality requirements across fabrication, assembly, testing and final acceptance.

RINA is currently recruiting for a Railway Rolling Stock Engineer to join its office in Mumbai/Sri City/Savli within the Electronics and System Engineering Division.
The Rolling Stock System Engineer will act as Rolling Stock Manufacturing Inspector for the project of assignment. The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring that rail vehicles (locomotives, EMUs, DMUs, coaches, or metro trains) are manufactured in compliance with technical specifications, applicable standards, and quality requirements. The role involves inspection, verification, and documentation across all manufacturing stages, including fabrication, assembly, testing, and final acceptance.
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in rolling stock manufacturing, inspection, or quality assurance within the railway industry.
Perform in-process and final inspections of rolling stock components and assemblies.
Conduct witness and hold point inspections in line with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
Identify non-conformities (NCRs), ensure proper documentation, and track corrective actions.
Inspect welded structures (EN 15085 compliance) and fabrication activities.
Review welding procedures (WPS), qualifications (WPQR), welder certifications and verification (NDT).
Perform visual and dimensional checks on carbody structures and critical components.
Inspect and QA/QC of other joints (screwing, bolting, gluing, hybrid joints).
Inspect installation of electrical wiring, panels, and onboard systems.
Verify routing, termination, labeling, and compliance with schematic diagrams.
Witness functional testing of key systems.
Witness and validate routine, type, and acceptance tests.
Review test procedures and results (FAI, FAT, SAT, SIT, static tests, dynamic tests where applicable).
Ensure proper test documentation and reports are completed and approved.
Prepare and maintain detailed inspection records, quality reports (including non-conformance), and checklists.
Review manufacturing dossiers, quality records, and certification packages.
Ensure traceability of materials and components.
Conduct audits and inspections at supplier facilities.
Verify compliance of subcontracted components with contractual requirements.
Monitor supplier quality performance and follow up on corrective actions.
Bachelor’s Degree
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 5 years of experience in rolling stock manufacturing, inspection, or quality control.
Experience with major systems: Carbody, Bogies, Electrical/traction systems, Train integration.
Knowledge of: EN 15085 (welding), EN 12663, EN 45545 (fire safety), IEC standards, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Quality processes and tools.
Ability to read: Engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic schematics.
