Job summary

Roentgen Diagnostics seeks an experienced Radiation Safety Officer to oversee regulatory compliance in a hospital nuclear medicine/PET-CT setting. The role emphasizes ALARA-focused dosimetry, radiopharmaceutical control, and safe operations in a clinical environment.

Responsibilities include licensing, safety training, emergency response, and incident management. Candidates should hold an RSO Level 2 certification with 1–5+ years of relevant hospital experience.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation or Post-graduation in Science, Physics or Medical Physics.
• Certification: Valid RSO Level 2 certificate approved for Nuclear Medicine/PET-CT by the national regulator (AERB).
• Experience: 1–5+ years in hospital nuclear medicine or PET-CT imaging environment.

Responsibilities

• Secure and maintain facility licenses, equipment approvals, and portal filings (AERB/e-LORA).
• Supervise elution, assay, injection, and waste decay-in-storage of positron-emitting isotopes.
• Track occupational radiation exposure and perform area radiation/wipe surveys to keep ALARA.
• Conduct mandatory radiation safety orientation and periodic staff training.
• Manage radioactive spill containment, contamination incidents, and equipment malfunction responses.

• Radiopharmaceutical Control: Supervise the safe elution, assay, injection, and waste decay-in-storage of positron-emitting isotopes.
• Dosimetry & Monitoring: Track occupational radiation exposure, perform regular area radiation/wipe surveys, and ensure doses remain As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
• Safety Training: Conduct mandatory radiation safety orientation and periodic training for technologists, nurses, and visiting staff.
• Emergency Protocols: Manage radioactive spill containment, contamination incidents, and equipment malfunction responses.
