Job summary

ABB is seeking a Quality Manager to guide and support R&D teams by establishing quality standards and processes. You will ensure products and systems meet defined quality targets, while guiding development phases to adhere to schedules and budgets.

The role oversees QA activities, supplier management, and Lean Six Sigma initiatives within the Central Quality team based in Bangalore, India. Hybrid work model offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
• 10–15 years of process and quality-related experience.
• Knowledge of Business continuity management, Information security management, Six Sigma.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
• Knowledge of Visio, macros, Tableau, Power BI is a plus.
• Hands-on experience implementing quality management systems and internal auditing.

Responsibilities

• Define, plan, lead, drive, coordinate, and execute quality assurance activities.
• Integrate QA activities into a coherent plan across project phases to ensure quality, scope, timeliness, and cost.
• Manage sub-suppliers effectively.
• Support Lean 6 Sigma deployment within R&D and product development.

This Position reports to: Quality Manager

Your Role And Responsibilities (Mandatory)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to guide and/or support Research and Development (R&D) teams by actively providing solutions and process standards to prevent defects. Each day, you will ensure that products and systems are delivered as per the desired quality. You will also showcase your expertise by extending the guidance/support through the phases of the development process to ensure that the results of each phase adhere to the defined quality standards and meet target dates and budgets.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid

This role is contributing to the Process Automation Business in Central Quality team in Bangalore , India.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Defining, planning, leading, driving, coordinating, and/or executing all appropriate quality assurance activities.
• Assembling quality assurance activities into a coherent and coordinated plan along the project development phases to ensure the R&D outcome is predictable and meets requirements for quality, scope, timeliness, and cost.
• Ensuring appropriate management of sub-suppliers.
• Encouraging and helping R&D employees to develop skills in Lean 6 Sigma and utilizing related tools during product development.

Qualifications for the role :

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering.
• 10 – 15 years of process and quality related experience required
• Business continuity management, Information security management, Six Sigma knowledge is a must.
• Having proficiency in Microsoft office tools such as PowerPoint, excel, word etc.
• Knowledge on Visio, macros, tableau, power bi etc., is a plus.
• Hands on implementing quality management system, internal auditing experience with necessary training certification is plus
• Promoting and supporting the deployment of the quality and operational excellence (Quality & OpEx) strategy to accelerate the rate of operational improvement
• Supporting and maintaining the quality management system (QMS) of the local division to drive standardization and consistent execution in delivery of customer requirements with all aspects managed in line with ISO standards (ISO9001, ISO22301 and ISO27001) as well with ABB business area and division guidance
• Planning, implementation, support including internal audit, management review, external audits, and external certification.
