Job summary

Marriott Tech Accelerator in Hyderabad, India, seeks a Senior Quality Engineer I to lead automation efforts for Enterprise Commerce. You will drive end-to-end testing, mentor engineers, and advance scalable API and backend testing in a cloud-based environment.

You will build and refine testing frameworks, integrate tests into CI/CD, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality releases across microservices, event-driven processes, and AWS deployments.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on automation scripting for large-scale applications.
• Strong background in backend systems and API validation.
• Experience with Kafka, NoSQL databases, and AWS cloud.
• 6+ years of Spring Boot and Java application development and automation.
• Proven ability to integrate automation tests with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience leading distributed offshore QA teams; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor quality engineering teams, overseeing quality assurance across all commerce tracks and ensuring the integrity and reliability of deliverables.
• Design, implement, and optimize automation frameworks and test strategies for complex backend systems, REST APIs, Kafka-dependent applications, NoSQL databases, and cloud-based deployments.
• Validate and automate test cases for systems leveraging event-driven architectures and cloud infrastructure (AWS or other providers).
• Integrate test cases with CI and CD pipelines to ensure continuous testing and delivery.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to align testing activities with release goals and business priorities.
• Drive continuous improvement in test processes, defect management, and automation coverage, proactively identifying and addressing gaps in test execution.
• Facilitate technical training and development for team members to elevate overall quality standards.
• Coordinate the scheduling and execution of testing activities, report errors and issues, and ensure timely resolution.
• Contribute to the identification and ongoing monitoring of risks and concerns related to quality and deployment.
• Review and approve test scripts and automation flows, ensuring adherence to best practices across all commerce initiatives.

About The Role

The Senior Quality Engineer I for the Enterprise Commerce team is a key technical leader at the Marriott Tech Accelerator, responsible for driving quality assurance and automation excellence across multiple commerce tracks. This role ensures the highest standard of deliverables by managing robust end-to-end testing strategies, fostering collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, and advancing automation practices for scalable, secure, and reliable commerce solutions.

The ideal candidate will lead a team of quality engineers, develop and implement innovative testing frameworks, and ensure seamless integration of testing processes within the continuous delivery pipeline. This role demands a proactive approach to identifying testing gaps, mentoring team members, and maintaining high standards of quality across complex backend systems, APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud-based deployments.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience in automation scripting for large-scale applications, with a strong background in backend systems and API validation. A comprehensive understanding of Kafka event streaming, NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Couchbase, and cloud platforms like AWS is essential. The candidate should have at least 6+ years of experience in Spring Boot and Java application development and automation, along with proven expertise in integrating automation tests with CI/CD pipelines.

Additionally, experience managing distributed and offshore quality engineering teams, excellent communication skills, and a solid foundation in backend automation testing frameworks such as Tricentis Tosca, Smartbear ReadyAPI, Cucumber BDD, and Karate BDD are required.
