Quality and Automation Test Engineer 5 (Wifi, Docsis, Automation)

Responsibilities
- Responsible for validating product quality by analyzing and testing the quality of the code base.
- Write code that will be executed in an automated and repeatable fashion to reduce manual testing and increase code quality.
- Develops and maintains code that validates front-end, middleware and database systems, using the latest tools and programming languages.
- Evaluates new frameworks for automation solutions, develops test strategies and designs test automation best practices.
- Collaborates with software engineers to write efficient automation code using coding standards and best practices.
- Represents test automation frameworks and methodologies to senior leadership and external engineering teams.
- Repairs complex broken automation scripts and resolves coding bugs in the product codebase.
- Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex systems problems and plans and leads team projects; may act as a cross-functional liaison.
- Works across multiple project teams to ensure common practices and acts as a subject matter expert.
- May be responsible for leading a team, but does not directly manage people.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Advanced understanding of IEEE 802.11 standards (a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be) and wireless networking protocols.
- Advanced Linux kernel networking and driver development; experience in embedded systems architecture.
- Design, development and testing of Wi-Fi software features for Wi-Fi gateway/extender products.
- Technical assistance to teams to troubleshoot Customer Wi-Fi issues.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for Wi-Fi features (functional, performance, security, compatibility).
- Wi-Fi performance testing tools and methodologies; network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark).
- Analyze test results, identify defects, and track them in bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira).
- Collaborate with developers and triage engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Contribute to QE process improvements and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks is a plus.
- Mentoring and technical guidance for junior engineers; strategic technology roadmap planning.
- Experience in an Agile/DevOps environment.

- Experience with Docsis, CCSP architecture, OpenWrt or similar embedded Linux distributions, and network security protocols (WPA/WPA2/WPA3).
- Knowledge of mesh networking, SDN, cloud-native networking architectures, and Linux/Yocto environments.
- Experience with network diagnostic tools and packet analyzers (Wireshark, tcpdump).
- Familiarity with RDKB stack and core networking concepts.
Education
Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Comcast may consider applicants with a combination of coursework and experience or extensive related professional experience.
