Role Overview
We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer / Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated and manual test cases to ensure the quality, reliability, and security of software applications.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in Java, Selenium, Playwright, UI automation, test case design, defect management, and troubleshooting. The candidate should be able to work independently on standard testing scenarios and collaborate with development and QA teams on complex issues.
Key Responsibilities
Test Planning & Execution
- Create, review, and execute test plans and test cases independently for straightforward testing scenarios.
- Perform test case enumeration and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Execute test cases with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
- Prepare and submit daily test execution reports and communicate testing progress, results, and blockers.
Defect Identification & Troubleshooting
- Identify, reproduce, troubleshoot, and isolate software defects.
- Analyze defects to identify recurring patterns and potential root causes.
- Participate in defect triage, prioritization, and resolution discussions with development and QA teams.
- Escalate complex issues appropriately and seek guidance when required.
Test Automation
- Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts.
- Automate UI test cases using Java, Selenium, Playwright, and other relevant automation tools.
- Develop reusable and maintainable automation components.
- Execute automated regression and functional test suites and analyze failures.
- Contribute to improving test automation coverage and framework efficiency.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain clear and accurate test documentation, test cases, defect reports, and execution results.
- Ensure testing activities and results are properly documented.
- Handle test data and other information in accordance with organizational policies.
- Track, document, and elevate potential security or compliance-related risks.
Quality & Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, QA engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders to ensure product quality.
- Participate in requirement reviews and provide feedback from a testing perspective.
- Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, automation coverage, and overall QA efficiency.
- Continuously learn and adopt new testing tools and technologies.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Hands-on experience with Java
- Strong experience with Selenium WebDriver
- Experience with Playwright
- Good understanding of UI automation testing
- Experience in writing and executing manual and automated test cases
- Knowledge of functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing
- Strong defect identification, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools
- Understanding of test automation frameworks
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
Preferred Skills
- API testing using tools such as REST Assured or Postman
- Knowledge of SQL/database testing
- Experience with Git
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools
- Knowledge of BDD frameworks such as Cucumber
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Understanding of security and data-handling practices
