Job summary

State Street Corporation seeks a QA Engineer to validate data and analytical reporting solutions for the GTS Control Tower team. You will collaborate with GTS, BI, data engineering, governance, and analysts to solve complex data problems.

The role focuses on end-to-end ETL/ELT testing across Bronze/Silver/Gold layers, dashboard validation in Power BI, and defect management within Agile ceremonies. Experience in SQL and Azure is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• 4 to 7 years of QA/testing experience.
• Proficiency in SQL and ETL / data validation testing.
• Experience with test management tools (JIRA, HP ALM, RTC).
• Understanding of STLC process and agile ceremonies.

Responsibilities

• ETL/Data Pipeline Testing across source, Bronze/Silver, Gold layers; validate data transformations and rules.
• Report/Dashboard Testing on Power BI and analytics layers; ensure data accuracy vs backend sources.
• Test Planning & Execution; create/maintain test plans, test cases, scripts; prepare test data and scenarios.
• Defect Management & Reporting using JIRA/HP ALM/RTC; track, retest, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Collaborate in Agile ceremonies and work with Data Engineers and Business teams for validation.

We are currently seeking a QA Engineer to help us validate the data and analytical reporting solutions for the Global Technology Services (GTS) Control Tower team at State Street. The position performs a wide range of activities with experts from GTS, business intelligence, business analysis, data engineering, process engineering, governance, and data analysts to collaboratively solve a wide array of complex technical problems.

About the GTS Control Tower team:

The GTS Control Tower team is an exciting and growing area of State Street with unique insight into the whole spectrum of our data, metrics, and dashboards at State Street. This name change reflects the work we are actively doing across GTS: integrating dependency management, business analysis, process design, and governance to transform data into action and keep remediation efforts flying smoothly.

GTS Control Tower Mission:

Our core focus is on transforming data into actionable insights. Our goal is to enable GTS Leadership to accelerate progress against key strategic initiatives across GTS and to drive results.

Core Responsibilities:

• ETL / Data Pipeline Testing
  • Validate end‑to‑end ETL/ELT pipelines built using Azure/Microsoft Fabric platforms
  • Validate data movement across source, staging (Bronze/Silver), and consumption (Gold) layers
  • Ensure correctness of data transformations, aggregations, and business rules
  • Execute data reconciliation testing between systems
  • Validate data completeness, duplicates, null values, and integrity checks
• Report / Dashboard Testing (Power BI / Analytics Layer)
  • Perform end‑to‑end validation of reports and dashboards built on semantic models (Power BI)
  • Validate for: Data accuracy and consistency with backend sources KPI calculations, business logic, measures, and aggregations Filters, slicers, drill‑downs, and user interactions Perform functional and UI validation of dashboards Ensure data consistency between semantic layer and reports
• Test Planning & Execution
  • Create, maintain, and execute: Test plans, Test cases and test scripts Automation scripts (where applicable)
  • Participate in STLC phases including requirement analysis, test design, execution, and closure Prepare test data and validate test scenarios
• Defect Management & Reporting
  • Identify, log, track, and manage defects using tools such as JIRA, HP ALM, RTC
  • Collaborate with development teams for resolution and retesting
  • Communicate testing progress, risks, and results to stakeholders
• Agile & Collaboration
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies:: Sprint planning, Daily stand‑ups, Sprint reviews and retrospectives
  • Work closely with Data Engineers and Business teams for requirement clarity and validation

• Exposure to Microsoft Azure and cloud data platforms
• Python
• Understanding of Financial Services / Banking domain is highly desirable

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience testing data pipelines and reporting solutions end‑to‑end
• Exposure to Microsoft Power BI / analytics platforms
• Ability to identify data quality issues proactively QA Certifications like ISTQB
