Job summary

Genpact is seeking a hands-on Backend Engineer with strong Python and FastAPI skills to build scalable AI-powered backend services. The role focuses on microservices, REST APIs, and AWS deployments for GenAI workflows.

You will work with LLMs, embeddings, vector databases (OpenSearch), and RAG pipelines, collaborating with product and cross-functional teams to deliver robust APIs and cloud-native solutions.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of hands-on backend development experience.

• Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud services.

• Experience with LangChain, Hugging Face, OpenAI APIs, or GenAI frameworks.
• Familiarity with Git, Docker, CI/CD, and Agile development.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands‑on Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Python, FastAPI, AWS, and Generative AI to build scalable backend services for AI‑powered applications. The ideal candidate should have experience developing microservices, integrating LLMs, and deploying cloud‑native solutions on AWS.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Python (FastAPI).
• Build scalable, secure, and high‑performance backend applications.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code following best practices.

Generative AI Development

• Develop and integrate RAG (Retrieval‑Augmented Generation) pipelines.
• Work with LLMs, embeddings, vector databases (OpenSearch), and AI workflows.
• Implement prompt engineering techniques including zero‑shot, few‑shot, and RAG‑based prompting.
• Integrate AI models using frameworks such as LangChain, Hugging Face, and OpenAI APIs.

Cloud & DevOps

• Deploy and manage applications on AWS (ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS/DynamoDB).
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.
• Ensure cloud solutions are scalable, secure, and cost‑efficient.

Collaboration

• Work closely with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers, QA, and cross‑functional teams.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical discussions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve application performance.

Required Skills

• 5–8 years of hands‑on backend development experience.
