Job summary

Wissen Technology in Bengaluru is hiring for a Python Backend Developer to deliver well-scoped backend features, endpoints, services and database integration on a technically demanding platform.

You will grow into a strong engineer on our hybrid team, applying REST APIs, ORM with SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, and automated tests while navigating a fast-paced, product-focused environment. Educational qualifications MCA/BE/BTech/MTech are expected.

Qualifications

• 1-5 years of professional Python in backend.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and SQL development.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and web frameworks (FastAPI/Flask/Django).
• Experience with SQLAlchemy ORM and async Python.
• Git workflows and automated testing habits.
• Ability to understand and navigate a codebase from a spec.

Responsibilities

• Build backend features: data management, configuration surfaces, lookup and search services.
• Implement REST APIs following established patterns: schemas, validation, error handling.
• Write and verify SQL behind endpoints.
• Handle database integration: ORM mapping, sessions, transactions.
• Create reference data loaders and validation for feeds.
• Write automated tests for delivered code.
• Write operational scripts: reconciliation checks, backfills, test data.
• Investigate defects in own areas: reproduce, isolate, propose, verify.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Build supporting backend features: reference data management, configuration surfaces, lookup and search services, administrative functions
• Implement REST APIs to established patterns: schemas, validation, error handling
• Write and verify SQL behind own endpoints
• Handle database integration: ORM mapping, session and transaction usage
• Build reference data loaders and validation for straightforward feeds
• Write automated tests for the code delivered
• Write operational scripts: reconciliation checks, backfills, test data
• Investigate defects in own areas: reproduce, isolate, propose, verify

Skills Preferred:

• 1-5 years professional Python in a backend context
• Working PostgreSQL and SQL development, and understanding of transaction guarantees
• REST API concepts and a web framework in practice (FastAPI, Flask, Django)
• ORM, ideally SQLAlchemy, and awareness of asynchronous Python
• Git and code-review workflow, sound automated testing habits
• Ability to navigate an unfamiliar codebase and work from a specification
• Typed Python, schema validation, message queues or scheduled jobs (desirable)
